Why did Nute Gunray want to Assasinate Amidala?

I know that this question has probably been asked, and if there is a thread on this topic that answers my question, please feel free to post a link to it. Or, if you want to answer the question here, please do.

Why did Nute Gunray want to Assasinate Amidala? Was it just for revenge for her ending his trade franchise in Episode I? Because I thought that Dooku was behind it.

If it was Nute behind it, wouldn't he be AGAINST an army of the Republic? Because Amidala was against it, and therefore it would serve the Separatists since they'd be able to take control of the Republic quite easily.

I guess I'm confused about the whole sith plan, and the assasination attempts. Please explain, or link me to an explanation thread. Thanks.


EDIT: Ok, I guess that when Obi-Wan apparently discovered that Nute Gunray was behind the assasination attempts, he was deceived. It appeared to be that he was behind it because he had a clear motive - when really, it only served the sith's plan even better because the Jedi wouldn't have even suspected them.

But even so, Nute still wanted her dead. But would he want her dead AFTER she voted against the army?

Padme' defeated and humiliated the viceroy, so yes, he attempted to assassinate her for the events in TPM.

Nute was completely and utterly humiliated by Padme in TPM. It would only be natural for him to want her blood.

 

She caused him a lot of problems after he failed to get control of Naboo in TPM.

Exactly. Nute's not a bad guy. Where he comes from, blockading one's planet is a sign of affection.

 

Dooku wants to kill Padme because she's a strong opponent to the creation of an army. Nute is kinda gullible and will go along with whatever Dooku says. That, plus the fact that Padme humiliated him in TPM are the reasons he wants to kill her

 

Dooku and Gunray are partners in crime. She poses a threat, as senator for Naboo, to the activities of the Seperatists, as we know she is a very good senator (she got Palpatine into power). Therefore Gunray wants her dead. Add that to the events of TPM and that Viceroy has got some bad beef with Padme!

Probably but he's being controlled by the sith who want an army.

 

In the novel the question was raised on why Dooku and/or Gunray would want to assassinate Amidala since she was the biggest opponent of the creation of the army that would fight Dooku. It wasn't really answered. Of course we know that Dooku wants her dead BECAUSE she's going to vote against an army and Gunray is just a mindless pawn out for revenge.

 

Nute wants her dead for revenge pure and simple,she almost caused his ruin and according to the AOTC Visual Dictionary he only avoided jail time because his high priced lawyers got him out of trouble, but one would think that he also wants Anakin Skywalker dead too after all it is common knowledge that anakin destroyed the Droid Control Ship in TPM and ruined nutes blockade in the first place,im certain that nute heard that anakin destroyed it.
