So in the third-act of The Phantom Menace, The Naboo Queen and the Jedi join forces with the Gungan Tribe to take back the planet from the Trade Federation and it's droid army. At this point Qui-gon believe Anakin is the Chosen One from an ancient prophesy. Someone who is supposed to destroy the Sith and in effect save the galaxy.

The kid is extremely important in Qui-gon's eyes so why would he ever in a million years bring a child along to the invasion of the City of Naboo where he has a very great chance of being killed in the impending violence? Why didn't he just leave Anakin in Coruscant with the Jedi or in the Gungan village underwater or anywhere where he had much less chance of being shot at?

Is there any justifiable reason for this to have happened or was it simply because Anakin had to be shoe-horned into the last battle to save the day so he could become Obi-wan's padawan and so on...?

And what do you think would have happened? Chances are the Jedi would have sent Anakin back to Tattooine. And the Gungan underwater village had been invaded by the Trade Federation.

The Council determined that Anakin was a ward of Qui-Gon, and thus his responsibility. I guess he could have stayed on the ship or something, but there weren't too many options at that point. Being under Qui-Gon's supervision was the safest bet, until he was ordered to take cover in the starfighter.

So when a child is your ward, you bring them into combat with you? Maybe he really was drunk

It was a pretty unwise decision to take a little boy from the care of his mother and into a war zone.

Qui-Gon was so sure that Anakin was the chosen one, that he knew Anakin was going to be Ok..He was right, Anakin was never in any danger..

I believe, if you search, there is already some old thread with multiple posts on the forum - there really is no new questions being asked. Still...it's probably buried deep, so ignore me.

It’s been said once already but, yeah, Anakin was Qui-Gon’s responsibility. Who else would take him? The Council, at that point, had rejected the boy, thus leaving him in Qui-Gon’s care. He could have left him on the queen’s starship or maybe stashed him somewhere in a nook or cranny of the Theed capital city. But, when you think about it, such would have been even less responsible. Certainly all the Gungans and the queen’s security were involved in the battle. The queen’s starship could have been destroyed by roaming battle droids and hiding the kid somewhere amidst a city under invasion (or even somewhere out in the woods), so far away from Qui-Gon, seems an even greater risk generally speaking. Qui-Gon at least tells him to stay close and, after clearing the palace hangar bay, to stay in the starfighter cockpit.

Sure, it was convenient for the story, but I can live with it.

Also note they couldn't spare a few more Jedi?

"We will use all our resources to unravel this mystery." -- Mace Windu

Well, not really "all" of our resources. We'll send two Jedi. Never mind that the Sith have reappeared for the first time in 1,000 years. We're just going to order a pizza and watch the GFFA version of C-Span and wait for the chancellor election results. Good luck!

and then leave him unguarded and unsupervised as a stow-away in a fighter with a child-sized helmet conveniently inside.

    Options avalible are;
    1) Back on Coruscant at the place where Padme stayed. If that is the Naboo embassy or Palpatines house I don't know.
    2) At the Gungan hideout, Boss Nass did join the fight so obviously he could have stayed there. The TF hadn't found it so it was safe.
Unless the Quuen/Jedi lost but if that were to happen the Anakin would be in trouble anywhere on Naboo.
    3) Anywhere in Theed is better than at the palace because that is where the enemy is and where the fighting is.

Also, about the Jedi, they send Qui-Gon back to Naboo in order to learn more about Maul. So they are knowlingly sending him intoa warzone but refuse to take responsibility for the young child Qui-Gon has with him? Makes the Jedi seem rather uncaring. Even if they didn't want to train Anakin, sending him into a warzone is very dangerous and Anakin could get killed.
Also, neither the Jedi nor Padme knew that the blockade was gone so odds are that they would get blown to bits before they could land.

And I agree with sweetzombiejesus., Why didn't the jedi send more people to Naboo? They had people to spare, or so it seems.
The situation was grave, war has broken out and their worst enemy might be back.

    Bye for now.
