Why do adults call hot dogs "weenies"?

I don't know if anyone else's parents call them that, but it's very disturbing when my mom says "There's nothing like a good weenie!" when she's eating a hot dog.

 

On the schoolyard, weenies mean penis. Hehehehe.

 

Which is worse? Weenies or calling soda Pop?

That is awesome, Greg. I noticed that people started looking at me funny when I say "soda" in Michigan. Man, that is neat as hell.

 

Pop pop pop. Any other word for a carbonated beverage is wrong.

 

Coke. Which is weird, because both Coke and Pepsi were invented in the South.

 

I also call soda Pop. Don't be so quick to judge.

Soda is no better.

And the generic word of "coke" is just as confusing.



If you want a Sprite, ask for a Sprite.

If you want a Pepsi, ask for a Pepsi...

But if someone affers you a "Coke" make sure it is "coke" and not Pepsi.

Why do adults call hot dogs "weenies"?

It has its roots in some sort of latent psychosexual yearning which pertains to a "former" or pubescent state of mind. These reserves are drawn upon in a subconscious manner so that the adult using said terminology is able to satisfy his or her guarded proclivities. Or perhaps they are simply using a more antiquated vernacular.

 

It could be a latent Freundian slip. Why else would a "mother" refer to a hotdog as a weenie?
