This is a really dumb topic and it deserves to be locked, but Im having a hard time filling the female roll in my fan film.

    WHAT SHOULD I DO?!??!?!?!

I blame it on TV shows that make us Star Wars fans look like preppy geeks! Damn you Conan O' Brien!!

My wife loves science fiction. We have a dog named Chewie, a sugarglider named Sarek, and a daughter named Trinity. That's Star Wars, Star Trek, and The Matrix. She draws the line at letting me build lifesize SW characters for display in the living room. That's one reason why I married her. That and the love thing.

Oh yeah, I am a geek. When you're an adult, being a geek isn't so bad. It pays fairly well (computers and all).

just go get a girlfriend and make her be in it... are you're dating/social skills really that bad? Get a girl friend first, than slowly reveal yourself to be a star wars fan.

I know whenever I have parties I flip all my books inside out, so you can't see the titles... I would never hear the end of it if anyone saw all my EU novels ;)

Seriously, with my past girlfriends, i actually befriended them first (go figure ;)) and then slowly made star wars seem not geeky... it's not that tough, you just make a few choice comments here and there...

Our Metal Gear Solid movie was a big hit amongst the girls at my school, so much so we now have a few roles lined up just by them seeing our movie and saying they want to be in the next one.

You don't need to say "HEY! BE IN MY STAR WARS MOVIE!!!"

You post on a Star Wars message board, so you're either a geek, nerd, or loser. If you don't claim to be one then you're in denial. And who said girls don't like Star Wars?

There are lots of girls who like SW. It took me awhile to find 'em, but they exist.

And, I must add, ALL girls love Yoda. You can just picture him cruising down the street for chicks.

Yeah Darth... If being a geek is going out to clubs with your friends on fridays, going to parties with your friends on saturdays and going to movies on sundays, color me geeky.

    Cya
    Mike

EDIT: And I don't post on a star wars message board, I post on a FANFILM message board to learn about film making... which is something that all the girls I have spoken to in my school dig.

Erick, I find your logic incredibly flawed, so let's look at the facts...

    1. Most women who've seen star wars at least thought it was ok, if not enjoyed it immensely, they just aren't always as open about it.

    2. It's hard to get girls in any type of project like that, even non-sw projects ;).

    3. Talk to the people at your schools thespian group, make them some sort of offer they can't refuse (they rarely will do it for jack crap)

ObiMcD, jack crap is all we film makers have to offer... this is the problem with your logic.

And for the record I think that everyone here is a nerd of some sort. I am both a computer gaming Geek and a film Nerd, the fact my film making involves a star wars setting is purely coincidental.

Wow, you people seem to take what I said as some kind of insult. This isn't the 50's anymore, just because you're a geek or nerd doesn't mean you wear glasses or pocket protectors. People like Speilberg and Lucas are huge nerds, and they're popular AND rich. You also seem to equate nerds/geeks with people who can't get girls, even though Freddie Prinze Jr. is a geek, and he's got Sarah Michelle Gellar and lots of 14 year old girls swooning over him. Being a geek or nerd doesn't mean you're ugly or unpopular, it just means you have knowledge in things most people could never ever have. All people in TV and Film are geeks/nerds as well as in any other artform. Except for lamers like Limp Bizkit and Backstreet Boys who only do it for the popularity and/or money. Don't be lamers damnit like them, be a geek, and be proud.

I think some girls, like my girlfriend, gets turned off by Star Wars is because girls go for stuff in movies like a love story or a tragedy. They don't have the excitement of seeing other Jedi being sliced in half or troopers getting blasted like we men do. Though, there are girls, like my mom, that love Star Wars and other Sci-Fi related movies.

Just do what the others say: Get a G/F, ease her into not disliking Star Wars, and ask her to be in your movie. It might take some work, but you can do it.

So go get em' Slugger! And May The Force Be With You!! "Cause your probably gonna need it." :)

Actually, Wixmmm, I did get the female lead in my little star wars project by saying: "Hey, would you be in my Star Wars movie?" LOL. And SteveSkywalker, she even likes the action sequences and seeing someone's head getting sliced off. Lucky me :D But its pretty rare to see a girl like that. I agree with your idea of getting to know her first. Then you can get her used to the idea of Star Wars. Then ask her to be in the movie.

WHo sez girls don't like Star wars?<VBG> JK

    I'm one who doees and isn't a geek.<G>
    Where's your location?(State etc.)

I fit your profile, but I'm way down in the southern portion of Florida. (No southern accent either.) :-D

As for costumes and props, I usually make my own so the filmer wouldn't have to supply them.

    If you wish PM me.
