Ok im wondering, this is a STAR WARS forum right??
So Why do people post there NON Star Wars fan films here??
I see so many post with movies and they have nothing to do with Star Wars,no offence but It kind of pisses me off.
Please understand I get VERY excited every time a new film is posted ,and get very let down when I watch them and there are no lightsaber fx and no Star wars anything..
I understand people are learning video effects here, but I think there should be another forum room set up for NON Star Wars fan films.
Well hope you guys(and galls) don`t hate me,but I had to say it..

Um Fan as in Star Wars Fan ,thats what the FAN means ,it means a FAN of the Force ,a Fan of Star Wars..(at least that`s what I thought)Since these are the Jedi Council Forums
But hey you been here since Nov '01 so you would know better then me.
I knew I would piss people off with this post, and it`s not like I don`t enjoy some of the non Star Wars movies.
I had a good laugh today with the Ps3 Rocky movie.
Sorry in advance if I have offended you,I just think there should be a sub forum for all NON Star Wars movies, thats all.

I just think there should be a sub forum for all NON Star Wars movies

    Why?

,it means a FAN of the Force ,a Fan of Star Wars..

Heck, I hardly even like Star Wars since the PT. I'm here to read about how other people are tackling their movie ideas and to sometime offer help/advice.
That's what this place is for.

I knew I would piss people off with this post, and it`s not like I don`t enjoy some of the non Star Wars movies.

So why the heck did you start this thread?

Well I don`t see people posting non Star Wars RPGs in the RPG board.
Or non Star Wars Art in the Fan Art room.

I think a good idea would be to put a (NSW) for "Non Star Wars" tag in the posts topic if its not Star wars related.

TFN Fan Films (The Force.Net Fan Films) is one of the Internet's largest havens for fan filmmakers of ALL fan films, NOT just Star Wars. No group of people have ever contested the relevancy of non-Star Wars fanfilms on this forum.

Incidentally most of the fan films posted on these boards usually, and quite clearly, stipulate what universe the fanfilms are set in. So really its just a matter of taking the time to read the thread before clicking on the link and wasting your bandwidth on a non-SW fan film.

Generally if the poster hasn't bothered to tell you what universe the film is set in, its usually not worth looking at anyways IMHO.

Incidentally I HAVE noticed that there's been a lot of non-fanfilms (i.e. original independent short films) being mentioned on here. I personally have no objections to this, but how do other people feel about this?

But would it piss you off if they did?

People shouldn't have to put tags before their thread titles.

Is it really that hard for you to just click on a thread and READ what the film is about?

I have to conceptionally agree with the OP. I've debated this issue long ago also. I think fanfilms.com should have spun off from TFN when they started hosting non SW films. Just my opinion, but I'm also aware it's not going to happen so that pretty much makes it a non-issue.

Although Star Wars fan films are the most plentiful, if only SW fan films were exclusive to this forum, the variety would just lose a lot of interest.

Fan films has grow past SW in the last few years so I think we should welcome variety without having to tag a thread with "NSW". Plus, when the TFN Fan Film page is welcoming non-SW fan films, why couldn't the forum?

As stated, opening the thread and reading the first post works just as well as having an unnecessary tag. You really have no reason to be "pissed off", just welcome variety!

I like seeing non-Star Wars fan films. It keeps things interesting.

I also like seeing non-fan films, for the same reason.

Fanfilms.com used to be its own site, but was folded into TFN back in the late 90s. At the time, fan films were primarily Star Wars. Since then the concept has expanded. To date, TFN ownership has never minded. If they ever were to say "take down the non-Star Wars films", then that would happen. But they haven't, so they stay up.

This forum is for people to discuss filmmaking, fan and otherwise. Lightsabers are a bonus, not a mandate.

Although I haven't been here long, its nice to see the community grow to alot more than just SW fanfilms. Sometimes you get sick of the "lightsaber duel" with Duel of the Fates in it. I like to see what the others here do besides their SW endeavors. Even though this board was started as a SW fanfilm site only, a fanfilm is now different from what it was before. This community is a place to share your films with others and talk about filmmaking as a whole. Idk, I love seeing a little bit outside the normal fanfilms here. If anything I wish people didn't think of this as a SW fanfilm forum anymore but more of a "fanfilms" period type of forum. Ah well, at least I enjoy seeing the other films posted here. :)

Well I don`t want you guys to get me wrong,I enjoy the non Star Wars fims too,I would just like to know if a thread is a Star Wars film or not before I click in it or download it..

I am about as big of Star Wars nut as you can be,and I NEVER get tired of watching Star Wars,or doing Star Wars graphics,Or doing Lightsaber effects,Or watching the movies,or learning new saber spins and moves,or reading EU books,or SW Rpg,or chatting on this forum or my forum the force-fx.com jediarchives.
It might just be cuz I have a brain tumor and that is what is making me so obsesed with anything Star Wars ( I do have a 12 cm tumor in my pituatary)
Who knows I might be loosing my mind,or have already lost it.
But I can`t get enough Star Wars and I think a "NSW" tag is a good idea,to bad no one else seems too.

This is a fan film forum. It just happens to exist on a Star Wars oriented site. And it also just happens that the great majority of fan films are Star Wars related. Any that aren't doesn't make them any less "fan films".

And this is exactly the rationale I used when putting together the Cast and Crew Database.

So, you were wrong to assume that this is a Star Wars forum exclusively.

To lock anything down to a particular sub-section like "Star Wars" fan films, as opposed to any others, is just not a cool thing to do.

What I suggest to you is, if you don't like the non-Star Wars films, don't watch them. But don't create new threads complaining about them.

Let me nail it for you:

This is a place for Star Wars Fans who like to make films. Thus, FILMS made by STAR WARS FANS are posted here. Or is a Star Wars fanfilm a fan of Star Wars? No. Only the director is.
