Why does Boba Fett's armor look so busted?

The guy is a pretty successful bounty hunter with a strong relationship with the Empire (to say the least) and the Hutt family. So why does his gear look so ghetto? Jango Fett was a neat and well dressed mercenary, so what happened? Did he have some sort of recessive gene from the cloning that turned him into a slob or what?

 

Tough times them days were.....I'm sure he shined up his armor from time to time....we just catch him before he does the cleaning...maybe, maybe not. But pretty and clean means mostly....little experience. Rough and dirty = veteran...tough = Boba Fett.

 

It's scuffed because he uses it.

Also, Boba's armor is painted while Jango left his as bare metal. Sliding across a Kamino platform would leave Jango looking fresh and stylish, while Boba would have a highly visible paint scratch from the same activity.

 

Jango's armor would look really out of place in the CT. Everything there is dirty and used, "ugly" and practical. Smooth and shiny wouldn't fit. Only Vader may have that

 

Boba wouldn't be much of a bounty hunter if he didn't have a scratch on his armor.

 

I agree, it shows that he has the experience of a veteran bounty hunter and has managed to walk away from some tough fights judging from his armor.

I thought Jango's armor was painted silver and blue? His paint job would get whacked, but not as bad as Boba's, that I give you.

 

I can see the point of Jango's armor standing out in the OT's "used" look and even that under the Empire's control the galaxy would a less, eh, prosperous place to be, but from the story standpoint it would seem that would have little effect on the bounty huntering business. And it seems like we see Jango and Boba at about the same point in their careers and that they seem to identical in terms of success and proficiency, so why would Boba Fett look so ragged? Was he psychologically damaged by watching Jango bite it? And if it is the same armor, why would Boba paint it?

Sorry about all the questions here but I'm genuinely interested in other's feedback as it is an interesting character point to me.

 

As ROTJ shows, he obviously cares more about the women than his suit, what girl wouldn't go for that rough bad-boy look?

Isn't it his dad's suit? I mean, it's really OLD. Maybe it was brand-new in AOTC, but it's decades later now and it's showing its age.

I guess bounty-hunting under the Empire's rule isn't as profitable as under the Republic, eh? But fair play to the guys for at least getting some money out of the tightwads...
