Dooku seems to have expended a good amount of time and energy dealing with Obi-Wan and Anakin. Yet when Yoda enters he wastes time by throwing multiple objects at him. He even seems to overly exert himself pulling the rocks from the ceiling. Did he actually think that Yoda was going to stand there as they crushed him? Or did he actually have that little confidence in Yoda's command of simple telekinesis?

Dooku wanted to show his old Master how much he had learned, and basically wanted to impress him with his power. As for the actual telekinesis, Dooku's power is some of the most impressive telekinetic feats that we have seen in the Saga. We also see that after the telekinetic attacks fail, Dooku uses Force Lightning, something the Jedi cannot use.

Hence his words, "I've become more powerful than any Jedi."

I don't think it was either, TSC. I think Dooku was striving to convey that he'd grown past the limited scope of Yoda's teachings and I heartily agree.

Your saying the average Jedi was incapable of simple telekinesis?

"I've become more powerful than any Jedi. Look, I can throw rocks."

Actually, Dooku says that he has become more powerful right before he blasts him with the lightning. He wasn't referring to the use of telekinesis. The dialogue goes like this...

    DOOKU: "Master Yoda."

    YODA: "Count Dooku."

DOOKU: "You have interfered with our plans for the last time."

Then they have their Force battle.

YODA: "Powerful you have become, Dooku. The dark side I sense in you."

DOOKU: "I have become more powerful than any Jedi. Even you."

Then he tries to blast Yoda, who deflects the first blast and then absorbs the second.

Dooku refers to the lightning which he feels puts him ahead of Yoda, but realizes that there's more to learn.

I did. Read the dialogue again. Dooku believes that he is stronger than Yoda and that he is no longer powerful enough. Dooku has killed a Jedi Master and spanked the so called Chosen One and his Master. He's rather cocky right now.

To my view, I did, TSC. It's more accurate to say I didn't answer as you expected. :) I believe he did those actions to make a statement to Yoda. I totally understand if you don't agree.

So he performed simple telekinesis to prove he's the stronger than Yoda? That's like me saying "I'm better then you Lebron!" and then proving it by hitting a free throw.

Simple telekinesis? Sure, compared to the video games and the EU. Not so simple when just taking the movies in consideration.

Idunno man, Yoda lift a ships in ESB, lift a Senate pod in ROTS, Vader throws a ton of crap at Luke in ESB, Darth Maul perfectly times a Force push against Obi-Wan in combat...The only telekinesis feat that Dooku tops is Anakin lifting fruit on his date with Padme.

When Yoda lifts an object, it takes a lot of energy out of him. Palpatine does it and he's laughing all the way to the bank and is possibly as old as Yoda.

Dooku was just bored of the lightsaber battle and wanted to try something different.

I think it was Jango that killed Coleman Trebor, not Dooku. But all of the Jedi that died in the arena perished due to Dooku's trap, so he was feeling pretty confident.

the problem with the scene is NOT that Dooku was throwing stuff at the little green swamp dude, it was that it looked terribly slow and unremarkable, one thing flew across the room at a measly 1 mph it looked like,

compare this scene with Vader and Luke in ESB.

So the problem (as with many things in AOTC -and before I'm accused of bashing it is my favourite in the PT-) was the execution, not the intent.

    Most valid point so far.
Neither of those points change how unimpressive Dooku's attack was.

The only good meaningful telekinesis (or for that matter force use) by Dooku was trying to crush Anakin and Obi-Wan with the tank, allowing him to escape. I don't even think his lightning was very impressive. Based on ROTJ, force lightning was this horrific, scary power, and Dooku's use of it was pathetic, especially since Obi-Wan blocked it like it was nothing, and Yoda caught it in his hands. It would have been better if lightning was used exclusively by Palpatine.

It makes sense that Dooku's lightning wasn't that impressive. Palpatine has had a longer time to master it and Dooku has only been a Sith for roughly ten years in AOTC

I was talking about Sifo-Dyas. He didn't kill him in battle, but he did make sure that his friend was dead.

Age isn't an issue. The dark side grants a stronger connection to the Force, as it is fueled by emotion. A Jedi can still become strong, but they had to do it without emotion. As a result, things are quicker and easier for a Sith compared to a Jedi.

As you can see here, Palpatine shows great power compared to Maul and Savage.

Dooku did it because he had new power and he wanted to show it off to his former master. Maybe he thought Yoda wouldn't be able to handle it. I'm honestly not so sure though, because he should know that he is no match for Yoda.
