Why does Yoda like the flashlight?

From ESB, have you noticed when Yoda rummages through Luke's stuff at his camp he gets very intrigued w/ the flashlight? Is it because it reminds him of a lightsaber? "awwwwwww!!!"

I especially liked it when he tussles w/ R2, "mine mine mine!"

 

He's acting crazy, to test Luke's patience.

Interesting observation, it probably does remind him of his lightsaber he probably hasn't seen one in about 20 years now.

 

Mandalorian-Jedi is right. Yoda really couldn't care less about a flashlight, but he had to make a cover. His cover was to be crazy, and he did a pretty good of it, in my opinion.

 

it was all an act pretty much, to test luke's patience.i mean maybe the lamp interested him a little bit more than the other stuff there, but he really wasn't all THAT intrigued by it.

 

it's a bright light all simple creaters are interested in bright lights, flashy thing, etc.

yoda is pretending to be a simple creature. testing luke.

Yes, he did it to act crazy but I also like to think that he did it because it reminded him of a lightsaber.

 

Just because Star Wars fans twirl around flash lights pretending to be Jedi, doesn't mean lights really remind anyone of lightsabers in the GFFA

I think he lost it down the shaft w/ the duel w/ sidious.

I'd like to think the flashlight reminded him of lightsaber, I wonder if GL had that in mind when he made the movie. Definitely to test luke!

 

In one of the Tales comics he has a PURPLE lightsaber while on Dagobah... its acxtually a pretty funny comic (though he and Mace in that fast food restaurante is hilarious)

i dont really think he was covering to fool luke. i just thought of it as him being extremly old and kind of senile esp. after living on that planet for 20 years

 

yes but as you see very quickly when he composes himself when he feels he cannot train luke it was all an act. the scene still works. original we thought he was just some crazy creature not yoda. now you are supposed to think he is a senile old koot.

yeah, I always loved the flashlight/lightsaber theory. I know he's just trying to mess with luke's head, but in some strange private way I think he kinda gets a kick out of it.
And you know, maybe he's trying to give luke a little bit of a hint at the same time?

He knew Luke got one of those new-fangled Dad-gummed Hi-output LED jobbers from ExtremeGeek.com and he always wanted one himself, that's why!

the real question is why didn't he use his super lightning absorbing force skillz to absorb the shock R2 gives him

 

I think he planned to act annoying from the beginning but the flashlight gave him elements 2 improvise

 

He's been there for roughly 25 years with no technology. You saw the hut. He was cooking on a fire. And, I didn't see a single flashlight like that during the PT. That's some fancy technology compared to what he had in the Clone Wars. I can see it now.

"Back in my day, lights like this we did not have. Had to use candles we did, and walked to and from battle uphill both ways we did with no shoes in blizzards hmmm."
