Why don't any vending machines take pennies?

What do you do if all you have on you is two quarters, two dimes and five pennies?

Now I have to go to an ATM, get cash and then put a dollar bill in the machine.

I have to break a perfectly good dollar so I can get a little caffeine in my system.

You know of an ATM that gives out dollar bills?

That's way better than a penny accepting vending machine. . .

 

Because pennies need to be saved to be flattened and smushed into memorable keepsakes from places you've been using those lovely machines with the wheel.

Where are you going to find an ATM that will give you a single dollar bill? You'll have to get a $20 bill, buy something elsewhere to get change, then use the dollar bill in the machine to get your Dr. Pepper.

You could have bought a can of soda for like 25 cents at a grocery store instead you're stuck with paying three times as much and transaction fees because the ATM isn't for your bank just because you couldn't plan ahead.

At any rate, soda is cheaper at a vending machine.

.75, compared to a convenience store where it is .90 plus 9% sales tax.

Dude not a convience store, they have a markup of like 200%, I'm talking about a run of the mill grocery store. Safeway or Giant or piggly wiggly or whatever, hell even walmart if you have no standards whatsoever.

Since when does a bottle (are you talking 20 oz?) of soda cost $.75 at a vending machine? Man, living in NY sucks.

 

I'm pretty sure the can costs 75 cents...but, I could be wrong.

The police station I work at during breaks back home has a 20 ounce machine with soda for 75 cents, mainly because it's a government agency, and they aren't looking to make any profit off of the soda sales.

 

20 oz bottles here are $1.25

You also could find someone who has a quarter, and trade them 25 cents for it.

And I laugh at any states that charge sales tax on food items.
