    cause
Everybody's going to the party have a real good time
Dancing in the desert blowing up the sunshine

not enough for a Senate thread.

It's always easier to ask someone else to die than to go to the front lines yourself.

That said, it's pretty stupid to send your king into battle.

    A. It's pretty hard to fight off hoards off energy and make important executive decisions like picking major issues to pursue, considering treaties/alliances etc, and kepeing things running at home all at once.

    B. It's even harder to do the aforementioned when you're dead.

    Or alternatively:
    1. It's hard to win a war without keeping the country stable.
    2. It's hard to keep the country stable without its leaders committing serious time to do so.
    3. It's hard to committ that much time when you're fighting for your life on the front lines.

While there is a point that one shouldn't be callous to the sacrifice of others, this question is really somewhat ridiculous. Like asking, "Why doesn't the CEO of Ford work on the assembly line?" or "Why doesn't the CEO of McDonald's flip hamburgers?" Because that's not their job. They're the leaders. They make sure things run smoothly enough so that those lower people can do their jobs, and so that success at those lower levels will mean success overall.

    Probably re-sent...

Anywho, I agree with Jabba, it's simply not the President's job to personally fight the war(s) because it would severely limit the leader's job. In a sense, the President is always under threat of death i.e. assassination hence the Secret Service.

Secondly, why did you say that Presidents instead send in the poor? The President sends in soldiers, soldiers who are volunteers. It's emotionally rhetorical drivel to complain that only the "poor" are sent-the Presidents sends in the military-simple as that. If the military provides jobs for the economically "poor" (which is not always the case), then so be it; at least it's volunteer.

my point exactly that they send in the poor,
yes they are volunteers, but the poor are almost always the first to step up and do it:

    A) it's obviously a job, and the military lures you in with the promise of a secure future and cash, but they don't tell you that you just might die, especially in this war.

The military, is the military, the purpose of the military is to defend the United States of America, its people, its leader, and the Constitution. To defend this, the military defends it by fighting. When you fight you can die. It takes an amazing lack of common sense to think you'll join the military and not face a life threatening situation, well unless you join the Coast Guard. ;)

Obviously, you can't run a war and fight it simultaneously.

The real question is, why don't politician's and businessman's kids fight the war?

Just think, if Bushie's spoiled background and connections hadn't kept him out of the war, he might've got the fate he deserved, and none of us would be in this terrible hole right now.
