Probably because nobody asked for them.

    (ATOC DVD webdocs:
Lucas: Blue and green are for the good guys.... and red is for the bad guys. That's just the way it is.
    Jackson: How about purple?
Lucas: ..... Alright, you can get purple.)

Jedi keep themselves hydrated, so their streams are never yellow.

it still seems like they could've thrown in some oranges or yellows for variety. i remember being slightly dissapointed during the arena scene when it was all green and blue.

Who knows, maybe in ROTS there are gonna be some yellow lightsabers. Would that make your day?

I am wondering that too. In my opinion, yellow ones are just as good as other colors.

Originally it was just going to be blue for good guys, red for bad guys, but then Luke had to fight on Tatooine, set against blue sky. The blue saber they tried didn't show up well, so they made it green. Presumably, his would have been the only green lightsaber in the films, but Qui-Gon also had to fight on Tatooine, so they gave him a green lightsaber as well. When AOTC came along, hundreds of Jedi would be seen, and since it wouldn't make sense for Qui-Gon to be the only Jedi in the order to have a green saber (he's not even on the council), they gave other Jedi green lightsabers as well.

I guess if Qui-Gon didn't have to fight against a blue sky, he would've had blue as well, and Luke and Mace would be the only Jedi with different lightsaber colors.

The toy had a yellow blade, but in the game Jedi Power Battles, it appeared more orange.

Well i just thought of another reason, maybe they wanted to keep the whole idea of finding different colored crystals is hard, since blue and green crystals are the most common crystals. But hey who knows.

This topic is fascinating. Why aren't there brown or white or black or gold or peach or pink or...

    Because there just aren't.

Plo Koon had an orange saber in everything before episode 2. When george ignored the expanded universe and gave him a blue one, it was now blue in everything else. Same with Ki-Adi-Mundi (Purple to Blue) and Mace (Blue to Purple)Basically, Lucas doesn't care about the EU.

Actually, seeing as how the movies are the highest level of canon, the EU is wrong. The Ki-A purple to blue etc was a toy mix up. the EU felt it necessary to explain this. Why I don't know. Plo Koon's orange saber came from a video game, which is the lowest of canon. So, Plo Koon having a blue lightsaber is actually correct.

I would also love to see some yellow lightsabers but I don't think it's going to happen. Not in the movies anyway.

Basically, Lucas doesn't care about the EU

Why would he? The EU must conform to his rules, not the other way around.

Here is a MUCH better question... why does luke's saber in ANH (DVD Edition) change from blue, to green, to blue again... you can't honestly say somone made a mistake THAT big, and no one else questioned it... was it intentional?

Really, in ANH, Luke's saber isn't really blue, it's more of a white. >_< Plus, the hilt looks different in both ROTS & ESB.

And one thing I thought of, Mace's lightsaber is purple, and purple is generally though of as a mix of blue & red....Mace is close to the Dark Side when he uses Vaapad, so maybe it's natural that his saber is purple.

yes, luke's saber does change colors once or twice in a new hope. i just noticed this the other day. though i think that this happens only on the dvd release, but more research will be necessairy.

Yellow sabers are awesome,I wish we could have seen more colors.

A Maroon saber for the Sith would have been sweet

adi gallia had a maroonish saber in jedi power battles. i think that the toy's lightsabers and the videogame character's sabers should've been taken into consideration before episode II. sure, that might sound ridiculous to many of you, but boy oh boy was i ever confused.
