why some people wont accept that star wars episode 1-6 is the story of anakin skywalker

its no secret george lucas said it in an interview after the prequels were released, but he still said it. this is still the story in his mind. and he is the writer.

so why some fans wont accept it ? something that personally annoy me is the phrase "skywalker saga". this saga is about anakin skywalker/darth vader, not the skywalker family. it starts when he was a boy and ends with his burial.


i just dont get it.

 

It only became Anakin's story for the prequels. For years there was only the OT, and the OT was Luke's story. Most people have no clue what goes on in Lucas's head. He has said conflicting things over the years. He had an early draft that Luke's father and Vader were two different people.

no one will disagree with your post, but it still doesnt change the fact that this statement hasnt been changed yet.

Eh I think the OT is about Luke and the PT is about Anakin/Vader. It's really not a big deal. I like them both. Disney refers to the saga 1-9 as the Skywalker saga, as Kylo is sort of a Skywalker. I don't refer to it as that.

 

Vader is barely there in ANH, that's Luke's story. And when the novelization was published in '76 the cover proclaimed: STAR WARS from the adventures of Luke Skywalker, soon to be a major motion picture!

I'm not sure why GL felt the need to sell the Anakin uber alles narrative, but it's an obvious retcon and I'm not buying it.

 

George Lucas also changes his mind and contradicts himself quite a bit, so eh.

Star Wars was always something that George Lucas made up as he went along. For example, the "I am your father" reveal wasn't something he planned from the outset, but only came up with partway through writing the script for ESB.
