Wishful Drinking (Carrie Fisher's book about her personal problems [which I feel I might have also])

I'm disappointed by the lack of drunken stories that she shares with the readers of her book. "Wishful Drinking", as a title, suggested that the book detailed her problems with alcohol. Instead, it delineates her problems with drugs and bipolar disorder in a very general outline.

I wanted insight into the life of a fellow alcoholic, but with a celebirty twist to my own life. Instead, it seemed a little bit preachy. Even though it seemed she took measures to appear to not be preachy.

Oh, and a plus to the book is that it describes some of the symotoms of bipolar disorder, and some of my behoviour seems to correspond to the alleged condition. But maybe its less of a mental illness and more of a personality type, with varying degrees (at least thats one conclusion I drew from it).

Any thoughts from readers of this book or anyone willing to provide their own uninformed opinion on a matter which they are clearly unqualified to comment on (which is what usually happens on these forums [and is what I like about you people])?

Her interview on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me was hilarious.

    That's all I got.

    This I shall do.

It seems every time they have Wait Wait on my local station, they replay the same damn Garrison Keillor rerun. Garrison Keeler is pretty cool, but you can only listen to the trivia questions so many times before they get old.

Haven't read the book, but I did see her one-woman show of the same name when she was in Boston and caught her on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me (my favorite NPR show ever...). Yes, she's pretty self-deprecatingly, depressingly hilarious, good stuff. Go Carrie. I do find it somewhat unfortunate even as a big Star Wars fan that every interview or show or book (the book's cover is Leia drinking a martini after all) or whatever she's doing pretty much has to bring up Star Wars in some way. Okay, I can forgive Peter Sagal (the host of Wait Wait) for it - he's a nerd like we are, too. Fanboyism coming out isn't quite the same thing as having it obligatory, although that's probably there too. :p
