Many of you know I'm attempting a Chewie suit for a friend. I was wondering if there were any sound devices to produce that famous roar? (he's already somewhat good at it, though [face_laugh])

Get a recorder and tape it on there the a viedo game would be a good place to get the sounds. This would be the cheap option.

That or find somewhere where you could download it and then put it on an MP3 player with some loud speakers.

Although, you could find a bear someplace and make it mad. Then record that sound. That's what Ben Burtt originally used. (except for the making it mad part.)

    You might try this: http://www.hyperdynelabs.com/products_elec_prSound.php
Or you could just look into a Radio Shack programmable sfx board. No, I don't have the link.

KnightShade currently uses an MP3 player and hidden speaker to produce his sound effects. I'm not sure where he found the sound clips though. One of the other Wookiees we met at CIII can make the sound effects all on his own though - quite impressive.

Yea I know some one who can do some of the sounds not all but some, it is cool, I had figured it out for a while. Now I can't figure out how I was doing it. If you got Jedi Acadmey then you can take the game apart and get the wookie sounds in the MP3 format on the game.

Oh, well shoot, in that case just get an iPod shuffle. The random play nature of the thing is perfect.

If you're too cheap to buy a programmable board, Tiger made a Chewbacca keychain that made noise, and the Chewie Palm Talker had like 3 different noises.

The radio shack programable board is $9. You can't get much cheaper than that.

Go to the zoo with a tape recorder. You'll need a lot of different animals, including sea lions, otters, lions, tigers and a hissing snake as well as the bear. (I had a trivia book way back when that listed all the animals, but don't know if I can find it now).
You can probablly hide the speakers & such in the bandolier boxes.
