I was reading the X-Wing Omnibus(sp) and i noticed that the wookie in the comic in which the squad meets winter was stronger and faster than any wookie i have ever seen. When his life debt owner was shot by a shuttle he then picked up a boulder and sheered off a wing of the shuttle by throwing said boulder. Then later we see him keeping up with imperial speeders just by swinging in the trees. Then later he cuts a tie's wing in half with a stick.. How is this possible. Any help would be hot.

Also he has bare soles(sp) on his feet.

I've read that a gorilla has the musle power to deadlift about a ton. Comics tend to want to exaggerate a bit. Picking up a boulder? Even a small boulder can weigh a ton. Does Chewie look like he could pick up a ton over his head and throw it? Not likely.

The current world bench press record is 1005 pounds. That is done by a 300+ pound man, with a lifting shirt(Designed not only to keep your balls and muscles from exploding, but also the material across the chest stretches inward to help the lift). There is a lifter who has benched "cold" a bit over 700 pounds. I would assume a full grown wookie is stronger than any man on our Earth today.

Also, when an animal decides it's going to hit you it's an all out attack. Animals tend not to dance around and jab, every shot is a power shot from a very strong animal, likely very fast and agile, who is not holding anything back, and in the case of apes(and wookies) outweighs you by a large amount. Even a small animal like a cat can do lots of damage because they are going all out on their strike.

I'd say a large Wookie, Tarfull's(spl.?) size would probably have a enough strength to lift two tons, so they have blantant superhuman strength of class 2 on Marvel's scale. Wookie's Chewie's size however are probably limited to peak human levels, able to lift 1000+ plus without strain, think Captain America or Batman level strength.

He can rip steel doors off hinges while underwater. He beat an Gorrila in hand to hand. There are more out there, but he is peak human.

I recall in Classic Star Wars (or Marvel, one of the Oldies) that Chewie was accused of ripping those giant towers out of the ground on Yavin. Those are probably more than one ton, especially given that they must be attached to the ground via something other than gravity. So I'd put Chewie more like what you stated for Tarfull. And it says something that his strength was comparable to what I can only assume (given its apparent 4000+ year longevity) was a primitive Sithspawn.

As for the comic in question, I saw nothing wrong with that. Wookie Strength + Adrenaline. Remember how much Hanharr pwned when using Wookie Fury. That's what we're seeing when Growzik (is that his name) hurls a boulder: Adrenaline in action. Accuracy is what amazes me more than strength, lobbing a boulder at a moving (IIRC) target while (I can only assume) blinded by rage, and actually hitting said target to boot. Now that's impressive.

Equip Zaalbar with two swords, and throw him at the enemies.

Toss in Hanharr as well, equally equipped with said swords and on a Wookiee rage at that.

    Boom, Wookiee strength.

With what lead to the character of Bane, batman could not lift 650 pounds over his head without the use of the drug Venom. Cap of course = 800 pounds over his head.

But of course, as with all things, any character is as strong as the writer wants them to be.

How about when Chewie disarms a nightsister then is mad because he dropped some bolts in the process?
