It just doesn't make sense. He's alien, a Cerean from that Coneheads movie, so just because he has white hair doesn't mean he's old.

The short comic Vows of Justice has an unnamed Jedi chick finding him, which we can work out is Dark Woman. She had black hair in it, though me don't know just where in the timeline it's set.

Mundi was the only Knight on the Council, a rarity we're told. So if Mundi is still a Knight a year before TPM (Prelude to Rebellion) and white haired . . . how old is he? [face_thinking]

What are Cerean ages like, maybe the Guide to Alien Species says? Perhaps they age their looks fast, but just don't feel it?

The only real yardstick is the Dark Women, and there's questions about what her age is, but shes a nutter she can probably control that too.

The Dark woman could easily be older than Dooku. The odd is she said she and Tholme were padawan learners together and Tholme is only as old as Qui-Gon according to Jan.

An official source (the Behind the Magic CD) said Mundi was 60 at the time of TPM, the same age as Qui-Gon.

You may argue he's surely getting on a bit now, but of course Jedi live quite a bit longer than "regular" members of the species.

Why did it take him 30 years to become a knight?

Nah, Mundi becomes a knight in Vow of Justice, at age 25, some 67 years before the Battle of Yavin and a good 35 before TPM.

It appears age doesn't matter much to a Jedi. Both Qui-Gon and Mundi are 60 in TPM (making Mundi 70! in AotC) and Mace Windu is 40. So when he kicks Jango Fett's ass, he's 50 years old. For the second greatest Jedi in the galaxy, that's getting on a bit...

Maverick, Mundi was still an apprentice in Vows of Justice, not a Knight. Nowhere in that short comic does it say he attained Knighthood, does it?

I'm wondering if Mundi really was 60 at TPM, why he was still a Knight.

Nope, he only wallops Bin-Garda-Zon's former leftenants and waltzes away. About all he scored out of the deal was a clear conscience and a good night's sleep, not a knighting.

(And his flowing, virile coif was quite taupe even then.)

There is a possibility that Ki-Adi-Mundi's "knightness" in Episode I may be retconned.

If I say anything more, it will be deleted by a mod as a spoiler.

My theory: Ki-Adi-Mundi was penalised one year for every time he slept with a female Cerean.

That's why he's still a knight at sixty...

    ;)

The weird thing is Samuel L. Jackson is already 57. He looks like 30.

Yeah, its funny isn't it? Especially when people say about Obi-Wan in Episode IV "He's too old for 57", even though Alec was only 61 when they filmed it.

Is Mace Windu 57, or Sam Jackson is 57?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but:

    SLJ: 57
Windu: Jedi Master at 25, High Councilman at 30, 40 in TPM, 50 in AotC, 53 in RotS.

It's ok, a lot of the ages the EU devises are a little bit arbitary, mostly expanded from Lucas' "he looks old/around sixty/etc" notes.

Then things get cranked further with EU authors wanting to have famous movie characters in book (Dave Wolverton putting Mace Windu in the first Jedi Apprentice books necessitated Windu joining the Council in his twenties).
