Would Luke have dared to face Vader in ANH if there were no Stormtroopers in the hangar

In ANH, we see our heroes making a break for the Falcon when Luke notices Obi Wan engaged in a lightsaber duel with Vader. When Obi Wan sees luke, he smiles at Vader and then sacrifices himself in order for Luke & Co to escape. Our heroes had barely escaped from the hangar, for the duel had caught the attention of several Imperial Stormtroopers, which had allowed the Rebels enough time to make their move.

I always wondered what would have happened if there hadn't been any Stormtroopers in the hangar and if Obi Wan had seen Luke, would he still have made that split decision to sacrifice himself. Do you think Luke would have come running to Obi Wans aide while he was dueling Vader. Obi Wan & Vader would see Luke running towards them, which would cause a pause in the duel, then Obi Wan would yell, No Luke No, Run Luke Run, run far far away, LOL.

Then Vader makes his move and slices him into an oblivion. Luke screams, NOOoo, NOOoo as Vader focuses his attention on Luke. Vader stares at Luke for a long time thinking, haven't I seen you someplace before, you look very familiar. Vader then shakes his head, Uhhhhhh, naw it couldn't be him, the stress of the Darkside must be getting to me. All of a sudden, we hear laserblasts firing around Luke & Co as they make their escape towards the Falcon.

Just before Luke steps onboard, he waives his ignited lightsaber in the air and yells at Vader, you freakin B----ard, my master will be avenged, and we will meet again real soon. As Vader watches the Falcon taking off, he is thinking Damn, I thought I sensed his presence, for it must have been Luke, ARRRRGH, slams his lightsaber on the floor and kicks it, just like in the Energizer Bunny battery commercial.

 

I think Ben would have sacrificed himself anyway.

Luke, in the heat of the moment, probably would have gone after Vader, which would have ended the Trilogy pretty quickly! Unless Ben visited Leia on Hoth instead.

I was just thinking, if Vader had known that the person who was standing there watching was his son, do you think he would have allowed the Stormtroopers to continue firing at him. Vader gives the order, continue firing on the Rebels but leave the kid to me, I shall deal with him myself.

 

Yeah. If Luke was going to be turned, it should have been in ANH when he had essentially no training. After that turning him would be increasingly difficult, eventually becomming impossible as we saw in ROTJ.

 

Luke would've killed Vader. Totally. Luke is a ninja.

Vader was actually running away when he saw Luke coming for him. He saw how quickly those troops were wasted.


AND HE HEARD OBI'S VOICE, TOO!!!

That was the death knell for Vader.

Too bad Han got jealous of Luke getting ready to gun down Vader and he told Luke to aim at the blast door controls.

 

Luke wouldve been Wasted with a capital "W". Luke had basically zero training and, at that point, Vader did not know Luke was his son, so I'm sure he wouldnt have thought twice about tearing him to pieces. Figuretively speaking, of course.

 

Luke would've known that if Old Ben had a problem with Vader,he'd be a gonner.

If there were no stormtroopers,ben still would've sacrificed himself for the following reasons.

1.Only two Jedi there could be- Luke is now becomming a jedi,and yoda is waiting for him.In order to help him further,he must die and become a force ghost,to insure he'll be with Luke for as long as he needs him.

2.If Ben managed to escape [not killing Vader,obviously] Vader would hunt down the Falcon and probably blast it from space,not only killing Ben,but Luke,Leia Han & Co.

3.To remind Luke of how far he really had to go [Just like the cave]

 

Unless Ben visited Leia on Hoth instead.

There would be no Hoth since Vader wouldv'e thrashed Luke with "one swift stroke". Therefore, no bullseye on the exhaust port, no Yavin and most likely no Rebellion.

 

If Ben (Obi-Wan)Kenobi had escaped the Death Star with Darth Vader still alive I think Darth wouldn't have blown the Falcon to bits as Vader wanted to crush the rebellion and he knew that they would lead him to the Rebel Base. However if Ben had escaped its possible that he like Princess Leia would know that they are being tracked and would have landed in some remote planet, remove the tracking device and then head off to Yavin

If there were no Stormtroopers in the hangar bay I dont think Luke would have fought Vader with his light saber but he might have tried to kill him with his blaster and Vader would have retrieved it like he did to Han Solo in ESB

 

If Ben (Obi-Wan)Kenobi had escaped the Death Star with Darth Vader still alive

If we're to believe Vader's intuition, then we know that Ben had no intention of escaping the Death Star. About the only way Ben would have left is if he defeated Vader. In which case, our heroes wouldn't have made it to the rebel base, even with Ben on board.

but they were running to the falcon when the happened to see him
they would have all been goners if he were alive and they tried to rescue him
