X marks the spot: A decade on the JC

If someone had told me on November 26th, 2000 that I would still be a member of the JC on November 26th, 2010, I would have laughed at the thought. Well, I?ve managed to stick around for these past 10 years, and have been very delighted in doing so. Many, many things have changed in my personal life since that fateful November night in 2000, a lot of it not so pleasant. Thankfully, despite all my troubles/mistakes here (such as being too much of curmudgeon at times, and for letting the JCC Polls go on for far too long & my conduct after the decision was made to end them- I very much apologize for that), I think of the past decade here & smile. Where else could I go on a daily basis and be the most vocal Laker fan around? Or give joy to so many when I had to shave off my neckbeard in June of 2008? Or be the guy who really, really likes that certain color? As I?ve mentioned before, Cheers is the perfect analogy for this place: everyone comes in, some longer (and more often ) than others , and everybody has their own unique view/way of doing things. I hope these forums continue to last for as long as people care to keep up this community, because it has been a fun/important part of my life. I?m going to be doing some shoutouts/namedrops/etc. below, but something I would like to say to you all: thank you for making this a great, crazy & fun community.

Amy (SLG) : You?re one of the more interesting people I?ve come across here. I?m sorry for any grief I gave you over the years, and wish you much luck on your move West. Also, you should try a carne asada burrito one day.

Josh (KnightWriter): Thank you for being a great friend around here, even with our disagreements & such over time. You?ve got great talent/skill with a camera, and I hope that leads to wonderful/great things for you.

Tyler (DarthIntegral): I?m sure you?re in great delight over Miami?s passive start to this current NBA season. The Cavs (so far) are a solid team this year, but I do hope that they find their way back to title contention. You?re a great presence in The Arena, and I?m sure elsewhere in your life outside the JC. I?m very happy to have gotten to know you better since 2009.

Varouj (Armenian_Jedi): You remain the only JC'er I've met in real life for more than 5 minutes. Thank you for that (that Armenian festival was a little crazy/odd/different), and I'm sure I still mispronounce my 1st name.

Trika_Kenobi: I've very much enjoyed exchanging PM's with you, on topics ranging all over the place. I'll try my best to watch an entire Duke/North Carolina Men's Basketball game this season.

Sonja (PrincessKenobi): You've been a good pal to me for quite sometime here, and I appreciate that. Sorry about the 2000 Finals.

lightknight, Stranded in space, Tim (Strilo), The_son_of_the_suns, TheEmperorsHand, PEZman4, HanSolo29, Charth_Maul, Padawan716, ewingsquadron (and the rest): You were all apart of my Special Edition Defense Force ( ) back in the summer/fall of 2001.................this was my 1st real social group here on the JC, and I've never forgotten that. Many good memories from those days.

Rachel (solojones): I've enjoyed our occasional conversations over ER and various other Hollywood films (particularly Swimming With The Sharks /tv shows. Also, thank you for putting up with my version of a PEOPLE interview last year (or in 2008, I forget which). Good luck going forward in film school/wherever that may lead you.

I first came here 10 years ago as well, and signed up Dec of 2000. All I can say is that it's weird.
