I never knew the Philipines had a fanforce chapter... Is it in Manila?

Well, most of the discussion lately is done in the Yahoogroup, for some reason. But we still encourage all Filipino Star Wars fans to ignite this board!!

Well, there's this one thread here that's been very, very active...check out the Fanfic Game thread. :D

Feel free to join the mailing list, guys. Or visit the Star Wars Philippines website (http://starwarsphilippines.cjb.net)

Why so much English round here?? Is English official language in Phillipines?? Don't you know Spanish?? Well, Phillipines were part of Spain 100 years ago, it just shocked that no one here speaks Spanish :p. Pero de verdad q nadie por aqí habla español?? [face_plain]

Well, Spain left this country in 1898.

Then this country became a U.S. worshipper ever since (good ar bad, it's debatable). The ones who do speak Spanish here are most probably the rich mestizos, and even they speak English.

Officially, English and Filipino are this country's official languages.

But we guys here speak 'Taglish' as a conversational language. heh heh.

This is what I think of those Conquistadors!
Yeah, Spain ruled the islands for centuries but never got full control, especially the southernmost areas! Even the US Constabulary during the Moro Wars had it rough. BTW, I'm Filipino-American raised in the US but still love the Pinoy food...even though I can't speak tagalog or bisaya. Heh! Unlike many other Spanish territories, the PI never was fully "conquered" in that the native languages are still much intact. Look at Mejico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, etc...I don't think they had a Lapu Lapu!!! Zorro don't count...he still speaks Spanish ha ha

You're right, Kampilan. They never got to control Mindanao. But just to humor Mr. Borracho here, I have to admit Spain still lives in the culture here: Christian rites, expressions, words...albeit mixed with folk beliefs.

Funny how Fil-Ams love their motherland so much but the Filipinos here in Manila are...something else, to say the least. I'm actually startign to belive that Fiipinos abroad are more Filipino than the ones here.

    Just an opinion.

    Hey Stomp! :)

Yeah, I didn't mean to sound too serious...just proud of the little known fact(many Mejicanos, other Latinos don't seem to know who killed Magellan) that it was a bunch of Pinoys that kicked butt against the Spaniards in those days.

Anyway, I remember visiting my cousins in Quezon couple times and they introduced me to the world of Japanime and manga. Voltes V, Daimos, etc old school mecha...I was never the same Fil-Am kid I was ever since! :D

    "Let's Volt in!"

Aids, that's because inside every Filipino is an American trying to get out, and that's just to paraphrase a quote from the movie "Full Metal Jacket".

And yes, kampilan, Voltes V rules! Too bad it never got the respect it deserved everywhere else.
