Let's look at this: Yoda clearly uses the Force for his own personal gain, he makes some poor guy give his meal to him! And then he tries to use the Force to steal his Diet Pepsi, but the man had enough midicholorians to resist. Also, Yoda was sitting at the diner with Chewbacca! Could this be the first post-ROTS adventure for those two?! Do they travel the galaxy for food? And what about Yoda's lapse into the Darkside when he steals the food?! Dangerous and disturbing this commercial is, if it is canon... ;)

Yoda is a man who enjoys his food. Nothing dark about that.

Yes yes, but I thought a Jedi was not supposed to use his power for personal gain? Although, food would be a worthy reason to do so...

I have a feeling, much like the Marfalump, it's not canon ;)

perhaps this is a meal he eats after viewing ROTS. After all, on Dagobah, all he eats is swamp stew. So, he must order take out sometimes! [face_laugh] [face_laugh] [face_laugh] [face_laugh] [face_laugh] [face_laugh]

Has anyone seen the M&M commercial where Vader tries to get the two M&Ms to join the dark side, and when they refuse, he force chokes one? I think that one is cannon. I wonder why he was recruiting M&Ms though. Is there some EU source that says that they are strong in the force? Are they actually jedi who escaped the purge?

In one of the Tales stories, Yoda and Mace go out to eat and discuss the fate of Anakin Skywalker. "Our meal will be comped," Yoda says, waving his hand at the waitresses. "Your . . . meals will be comped . . ." the waitress responds. "Stop that," Mace says.

    continuing:
Mace: The force is to be used for knowledge and defense.
Yoda: Defending myself from these high prices, I was.

I think we can retcon the commercial as being 'told from a certain point of view' -- there's no way that Yoda would let someone else get their diet soda back. besides, the diet pepsi was just a ruse, yoda really wanted the fries most.

"How you get so big eating food of this kind?"

so what about Chewbacca in that cingular ad...
"Love it.. now make me hate it!"
    *ruuuuahhhhrrrr*

Chewie certainly gets around a lot for an alien that will end up enslaved by the Empire before being freed by Han.
*comes to Earth to record cell phone clips for cingular
*comes to Earth to not have his food stolen by Yoda in a diet pepsi ad
*comes to Earth with Darth Vader to hang out in someone's living room to watch the trilogy DVDs
*comes to Earth to have Pringles with some British teen
*comes to Earth to hang out at Sportscenter
*comes to Earth to be on the Muppet Show and dance.

perhaps these were all part of his 'world tour'

The only canonical SW commercial is the one where Darth Vader fights the janitor. :)

The Darth Vader Energizer battery commercial is definitely canon.

It keeps going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going and going...

Force Fiction was a great tale. Anyone who has seen Pulp Fiction will love it.

I personally liked the next few lines better.

    Not 100% accurate.

Mace: I thought the Force was to be used for knowledge and defense.

Yoda: Defending my wallet from price hikes I was.

Force Fiction! Yes, I knew the name was a reference to Pulp Fiction, but I couldn't recall it.

I also liked the moment where Yoda lays out his argument regarding balance, using a pile of salt. "Now, balance there is, but one of these last two I do not want to be." Yikes . . . for a story that's primarily a spoof, that's a very telling and resonant way to look at the idea of "Balance" to the Force.

Force Fiction was the best damn Tales story ever. The guy that wrote it should be given an Oscar and a free hour with Keira Knightley.

So are M&Ms a species in Star Wars now?

I hope so! We should get Stover to write a gritty war story about the M&M's fighting in the Clone Wars. Red and Yellow, one lives, one dies *DUM DUM DUM*

Don't be a such a purist. The commercials don't contradict anything, and I'm sure that Lucas approves them, so I say they must be the same level of cannon as any other EU story :p ;)

No , no, no, it's not they who refuse, it's just Red. Poor Yellow had no choice but to follow Red's lead, until Vader chokes Red. And if you think that commercial is funny (I certainly enjoy it, especially when I can actually see it on TV), you should check out the Mpire trailer on the M&Ms website. Also try checking out the British Pringles commercial on the OS. Still waiting to see the Yoda Diet Pepsi commercial on TV, and I expect later this month Burger King will start doing some SW commercials considering their going to be have a competition going on as a movie tie-in. Grand prize, $1,000,000 US. Yes, I've been looking into some of the folks whom the OS mentions are doing SW EpIII deals. Gonna have to see about checking the 7-11 website.

I didn't see any Infinities logo anywhere in that commercial... Or even on the page with it at TOS.
