Is it just me, or is there people who think that Yoda's line is AOTC was terribly cartoony? I mean, "Around the survivors, a perimeter create." I may be alone, but that's just my feeling.

It's in line with the kind of humor that is characteristic of Star Wars. Never bothered me one bit.

Humor is an essential part of Star Wars

Yes one of the few lines form Yoda I had to revisit in my head. That was probably unintentionally humorous though I doubt Yoda was trying to make fun of protecting the 'survivors'. This is a very serious command for him. It's just sounds kinda strange in OTT yoda speak.

"Around the survivors, a perimeter create."

I remembered that line the first time I saw the movie, and I remember thinking to myself, "That line doesn't make any sense!"

I like the line. It helps the scene and adds more to Yoda's character in the Clone Wars. Not exaggerated at all for sure.

I will admit that it seems as though a lot more of Yoda's lines have been inverted in the prequels than were inverted in the OT.

For me, this fact is neither a good thing or a bad thing. Its just the way it is.

    Mace Windy,
    too windy for spoilers!

Well of course he has weirder grammer in the PT! What did you think he did all those years on Degobah? Perfect his stew recipy? :p

He was studying grammer of course! :p

Oh, and I love that line.

It is taking Yoda's quirky syntax a bit too far.

    I love that line!

"Around the survivors, a perimeter create!"

    It's just so quotable.

But I do agree that Yoda tends tp speak a bit more backwards in the PT than the the OT. I don't mind though...

I personally thought that at the end of AotC Yoda started to speak more coherently, moreso than he did in The Phantom Menace anyway. Maybe that sentence was making up for the lack of inverted grammar?

The PT has really overdone Yoda-talk. In ESB he actually threw in alot of non-inversion mixed in with Yodese.

And Luceno's latest novel: Labyrinth of Evil is the worst offender of them all(although the book itslef is very good :))

I happen to think it's one of the coolest lines in AOTC

I agree that the inverted talk was done a bit too much. If I were the clone pilots, I would'nt have a clue what he said, and then the survivors would've been chewed up by droids possibly..

Hades2021, how come you think the line makes no sense?

    It makes perfect sense.

Yoda is commanding the clones to fire around the survivors, to take out all the droids around the Jedi, so they will not get hurt.

Ah c'mon, it's very easy to understand: Create a perimeter around the survivors :p

Yoda: "Around the survivors a perimeter create!"

    Clone 1: "What'd he say?"

Clone 2: "Hell if I know. I can't understand a damn thing that backwards talking midget says."

I don't mind the additional Yoda speach.

This line did stick out like a sore thumb though. Most people I saw it with found it pretty funny though (not that Yoda was making a funny, more like Lucas or Frank Oz was making a jab at Yoda).

Maybe it was completely unintentionally funny, but who cares. It was funny and quirky nonetheless.

I agree that it's a little irritating to have to translate what the "backwards talking midget" says, but I think there's a deeper point here on the tao/force, that Yoda understands back is front and front is back, and how we see it is only "from a certain point of view."
