    From the front page:

Yoda's duel with Count Dooku was named the "Scene of the Year" at the Empire Awards. Empire Online reports:

The Sony Ericsson Award for Best Scene of the year was a shoo-in for George Lucas' climactic showdown with an overwhelming number of votes naming Episode II's lightsaber duel between Yoda and Count Dooku the year's most memorable moment. Dooku himself, Christopher Lee, took time off from terrorising the galaxy to accept the award.
You can check out the rest of the winners by clicking here. The awards will be on Sky Premier tonight at 11pm.

I'm glad to see it won. This scene was definately one of the most memorable movie scenes in the past few years for me

I have never had as much fun in the cinema as I did during opening night of AOTC. The audience response was great the entire night, with the Yoda fight scene, of course, gaining the most cheers and applause. :D

    Mace Windy,
yes, there is a draft in here!

    Don't kill the messenger:

Winning the coveted status as Best Film was, yes you guessed it, The Two Towers giving Tolkien's epic the top spot for the second year running. A gaggle of Middle-earth emissaries comprising Sir Ian McKellen, John Rys Davies, Dominic Monaghan, Billy Boyd, and Andy Serkis, all took the stage to receive the award in Peter Jackson's stead.

I'm just giving credit where credit is due. Congrats to AOTC as well as TTT. I still like the Darth Maul/Qui Gon/Obi Wan fight better though.

Yeah, Duel of the Fates was a classic! It was the first time that we saw the Jedi and Sith fighting one another that aggressively!

    Mace Windy,
yes, there is a draft in here!

Did DOTF win anything in 2000?

I was wondering the same thing but didn't wanna ask cuz I'd sound like an ignorant SW fan. Thanks, ST-TPM-ASF-TNE.
:p JK I don't think DOTF won anything, but my memory is very poor.

Finally an award for something. AOTC won't win any oscars so these smaller awards are the best it can do.

Very cool! Loved that moment and truly can not think of a better movie moment in 2002. The 6 times I saw AOTC the crowds were very into that scene. Everyone applauded his entrance. Very cool moment! Empire website also gave AOTC 5 Stars! Very awesome!

The most memorable time on the opening day of ATOC was this scene. The crowds went crazy from the time Yoda shadow appears then went beserk when he drew his light sabre from his robe and didn't stop yelling till he saved Anakin.

a classic Star Wars and Move history moment.

I'm glad the film has won an award. I didn't think it was the film's greatest scene but Yoda's entrance was certainly brilliant and I have never witnessed an atmosphere on any film like the time when Yoda arrived. My favourite part is that after fighting Dooku and jumping all over the place he is "too weak" to walk and needs to pick up his stick. Brilliant. Great work George, Yoda, Chris and all the special effects team. Lord of the Rings may be "the best picture" but at least AOTC has the best scene.

I still think that TPM and ESB had better light saber fights but I don't mind AOTC winning this award. The general audience loved it. I would have liked more with Dooku and Anakin but oh well... maybe in the next one.

I hear ya, RazorBack . If Anakin and Dooku sabre fight when Anakin had the double swords would've been a little longer and shown more acrobatic sword play, it would've rival or even surpass Yoda vs. Dooku.

I echo Mace Windy's sentiments. Opening night during that scene was crazy.

While it's great that AOTC is liked by someone, I'm afraid it no longer matters because Star Wars is dead, people.

It's dead because the fans simply don't care anymore. Every thread on this board turns into a LOTR discussion at some point even though it is a far inferior movie to AOTC.

IMDB.com are currently running a poll to find the best movies, acotrs, fx, score etc, of the year and AOTC is nowhere to be seen.

It's being beaten by things like Men In Black 2, Spiderman and Chicago as well as the very average TTT.

I've voted. But not many others have.

The AOL awards invited people to nominate there favourite movies of the year and AOTC AGAIN is nowhere to be seen. It's very sad.

Attack Of The Clones is the forgotten movie of the year and Star Wars will soon be "that film series that people used to like. What was it about again?".

Don't be concerned by internet polls....they are a dime a dozen, and not scientific. AOTC is popular with me , my family & friends......SW is still a strong force to be respectful of.....and episode 3 will be much anticipated. So don't dispair, TheFury,.....just enjoy SW and be glad we have it to enjoy.

I appreciate what you're saying but the media use these polls to bash Star Wars and it's fans with. And I've had enough.

Quite a few people still care. It's been a while since I've locked a thread for turning into a LOTR discussion. That was just a phase that is pretty much over.

While I'm glad it won I don't think it was as deserving as the Arena Battle. I also don't think the duel is one of the top 3 we have seen in SW. I liked the duel a lot but I personally think it is over rated.

One of my most rewarding cinema moments ever.

    People cheered, yelled, laughed, clapped.

Reason #1 why I HAVE to stay spoiler-free for episode 3.
The suprise was half the fun.

What I truly don't care about anymore is the negativity surrounding AOTC. I loved it. That's all that matters.
