What do you think of the Young Guns films? I really enjoyed both of them, but I give the edge to the original. But the sequel's pretty dang solid. A lot of people like the second one better, and I can understand that. I know Kiefer Sutherland has said he thinks the sequel's better. Cool movies featuring many Brat Packers, with a great focus on "pals".

    "Yoohoo. I'll make you famous!"

When I was younger, I would always rent these and star wars. Drove my mom nuts.

I loved the first one.... didn't care at all for the second one. I guess mostly due to the old Billy the Kidd telling the story aspect.

Well, that was maybe five minutes of screentime, did you think it was any good outside of that?

I love those movies...and one of the greatest moments in the series is when Kiefer's character sacrifices himself so his pals can make their escape.

    "Let's finish the game."

Too awesome. Doc is my favorite character.

Was a second film necessary? Not really, as the first one ended with that great voiceover by Kiefer. But was it entertaining enough for its existence to be validated? Absolutely. It's my favorite of the two, in fact.

I like them both. They were very entertaining. Doc was real cool, and Billy was fun.

Hehe...I own both on DVD. As far as westerns go, there have absolutely been better ones, but there's no question that this series has a special place in my cinematic heart.

I'd probably say that I love those movies in the same way that I love....hhmmmm....Red Dawn!

IMO, I don't think that we're too different when it comes to cheesy, yet incredibly entertaining, cinema that has reached a sense of cult status.

Hmmm, some aspects were great. Like the relationship with Pat and Billy and of course, Doc.

Want to add to what I posted before. I think Young Guns are such guilty pleasure movies. As Qui-Gon Zero stated there are better westerns, but this such a great movie to enjoy.

I think my favorite part is w/ Chavez Y Chavez describes the Red Sands Massacre. A very haunting tale. And the sad thing is, that it happened often during this time period.

Right on, Qui-Gon! I agree with everything you said. :)

And yeah, they are guilty pleasure movies as westerns, but are really quite well-done in their own way. When I was a kid, we'd quote these movies left and right. I could list dozens of great scenes in both films.

First, I had the original Artisan release of Young Guns and the Warner Bros. Young Guns II DVD. Then, I think it's been almost a few years now, Artisan came out with the Special Edition of Young Guns, so I picked that up. Even listened to the audio commentary by Lou Diamond Phillips, Dermot Mulroney, and Casey Siemaszko, which was quite entertaining.

You can probably guess which scene gets quoted to them most often, the absolutely classic peyote sequence. :D

I don't like the Young Gunz. They're horrible rappers IMO. And Game got 'em pretty good in 300 bars and runnin.

I absolutely LOVED the first one. I didnt care too much for the second. Perhaps because, like someone stated earlier, the first was enough on its own. It summed up the essence of Billy The Kid.. but in hindsight, Billy The Kid wasn't necessarily the essence of what "Young Guns" was meant to be. The ending to the first left a sense of.. unknowing about the mythology of Billy The Kid (there is much speculation, but does anyone really know who or what he was?). The second - to me - tries to stamp a far too definitive answer on it.

Favourite quote from it? : "Did you see the sizzzzzze of that chicken?!"

ahhhh.. that kept me entertained for months..
