It's cutting it way close but I need to find a children's-size counterpart to Simplicity 5840.

Does anyone make anything resembling this? Woodbury University's Common Threads Club is doing a Halloween Costume sewing bee this Sunday and I have two Kenner kiddie lightsabres that I want to donate to the cause. It would be kind of nice if I could do two sets of padawan robes to go with them.

I suppose someone might be able to figure out how to downsize the pattern. I have one that's been cut out for my use, but that's cut out on the XL size. I also have one that's still uncut but I wanted to keep it that way.

I looked on Simplicity, Butterick, McCalls and Vogue's sites but no joy.

It's too late to go crawling on eBay, alas. Hopefully something actually exists that I can grab.

Padawan's Guide has instructions and drawings for tunics. I'd say find an appropriate sized youngling near you, measure them up, then follow the pattern and directions on Padawan's Guide scaling everything to match the youngster's measurements. It's really the only thing I can think of on short notice.

It DOES exist. It might not be on the website but it IS in stores now, due to the Halloween costuming season coming up. I saw them just a couple weeks ago. Look in a real store. Mine from last year is Simplicity 0578. The pattern is the same this year though the number might not be.

Thank you. Will look for it at Jo-Anns and at Sith*Mart.

    Hi HSJedi,

The pattern I'm using is Simplicity 4426. It's one of the Simplicity Costumes for Kids series (with the upper right corner logo in purple and yellow starry lettering). At the stores, they're all set out on display, with the misc other Halloween patterns. I also saw the same thing with another number, didn't notice any difference (one was displayed, one was in the drawers). Go check out your local fabric chain store like Jo-Anne's or Hancock. It's all in the catalogs. Just so your warned, I had to check 2 different Jo-Anne's as one had run out.

The pattern is one of those S-M-L sizes and is supposed to make 4 different costumes:
    - Princess Leia's basic white dress
    - Padme's senator gown/head covering from the deleted scene, in the poster,
    - standard Jedi tunics
    - standard Jedi/Sith robe

Good luck! [face_good_luck] (I'm working on one this weekend)

Might be a good thing to hurry. Someone just posted a rumor that these patterns were ordered taken off the shelves and destroyed.
