I'm trying to piece together the "release dates" of the various YT-series ships.

But a lot of it doesn't seem to add up.

YT-1300: The Millennium Falcon was constructed in 60 BBY. Maybe this was when the YT-1300 was introduced, or maybe no.
    YT-1760: Released around 32 BBY.
YT-1930: Released just before 0 BBY.
YT-2000: Unknown, but probably in the Dark Times.
YT-2400: Obviously released prior to 0 BBY (because the Outrider appears in Ep. 4)

For example, it appears that the YT-1930 was released after all of the models above.

    Then of course there's the YT-1200, YT-1210, and YT-1250, and the YT-1500.

Does anyone have any additional information on this? Any threads here in the Lit Forums about this subject I can peruse?

    good topic

the YT-1300 series was introduced around 60 BBY with the Falcon's production according to the book by Luceno.
according to WEG rpg the Falcon actually is a heavily modified YT-129.... forgot the exact numbers there was a much longer detailed designation given explaining it had been upgraded from this to YT-1300 levels and beyond.

Some more help: You needn´t use the numbering as one might assume it is used. f.e. YT1300 is older than YT2400, yes but as the YT1930 shows that is not the rule but just a common thing.

YT- is the series designation (CEC also produced the YV freighters and others) so the YT relates to a basic design concept (f.e. all YT are saucer haped or hamburger shaped^^ with several basic stuff being nearly the same always: dive configuration aft, cockpit look (position can vary), turrents central, etc.)

the numbers then identify the exact configuration a ship is produced with (including cockpit position, etc. shields, hyperdrive etc. and all this data that is standard on them and is important for their abilities in flight like speed, power, defense and offense capabilities)... thus when modified the numbers can change to a higher or lower level fitting that outfit of the ship as is the case with the Falcon! though this does not mean the YT-2400 is better than the Falcon. Just that it has more modern tech installed.

Thus you can see why numbering is not a chronological order but a technological one. One may have the YT-2400 with modern tech built and sold. But then produces a cheaper version with some older tech and newer tech combined leveling at techno level 1930 and thus it is a YT-design leveled 1930, a YT-1930 released cheaper than the YT-2400 after the YT-2400 premiere that might not have the YT-2400's power or other ability but still is a good decent ship that an able pilot can upgrade or fly better than a YT-2400 if skill is added to tech possibilities.

does this make sense? I derived that from the numbering and data we have. Official world on this has not been given, but it does make sense to me given all the facts I mentioned above from the Falcon, WEG and Luceno as well as the technical journals.

The YT-series history is fraught with peril. Wait, no, it's just really complicated.

The first proto-YTs were the Barloz-class freighters, said to have been developed 30 years before CEC unrolled the YT-line and were sturdy and popular enough to still be used not only in the Clone Wars but in the Rebellion Era.
The earliest-known YT-series - possibly the first - was the YT-1000, which ironically was first mentioned in the post-NJO era.
Next was the YT-1150, which showed up in Rogue Planet.
After that, the YT-1200, which was name-checked in WEG's Stock Ships and in the Cestus Deception.
After this was the YT-1210. This was said to be the immediate predecessor to the YT-1300 and ended up having a much shorter production run because of the popularity of the 1300. Because they ended up having a larger backlog of them after the sales plummeted, they were hastily upgraded and released as the YT-1250.
And then there was the famous YT-1300. Millenium Falcon gave us actual production dates - in 60 BY, when the Millenium Falcon was produced, the line had been under production less than a year. The line was immensely popular, and a source in 32 BY stated that it was the "latest model" of the YT-series at the time.
The next one mentioned is the YT-1500, which is barely namechecked in Star By Star, giving us no idea of production dates.
The YT-1760, from Star Wars Gamer, was said to have been released around the Battle of Naboo.
The YU- and YV- series are already starting at this point in the ROTE-Clone Wars era, and the YZ-series as early as just after the Clone Wars.
The YT-1930 was said to be the immediate predecessor of the YT-2000, and introduced "shortly before the disbanding of the Senate" but was really only a variant of the YT-1300. (However, the 'shortly' has to be relative to the YT-2400, see below).
The YT-2000 was popular but discontinued early to make the YT-2400.
The YT-2400 makes its earliest appearance in Rebel Dawn, where it appears to be a fairly new (if not the newest) YT-series in 3 BY.
The YT-2550 is namechecked in the old WEG adventure, The Politics of Contraband.
And with that, the YT-series vanishes except as a starfighter - the YT-5100 Shriek-class bomber that appears at the start of LOTF.

There's also a YT-700 from the Adventure Journals and a YT-450a mentioned in an offhand reference in the WEG Gamemaster Handbook but not pictured.
