    Hello everyone,

With Remnant recently released, we are now up to the 15th novel released.

Throughout the novels, there have been many instances of native Yuuzhan Vong language used, often with the translation.

Perhaps it would be a good project to list all the Yuuzhan Vong words that we know, and their translations?

After all, our Star Trek fandom brothers can speak Klingon! :)

I have always thought the authors make up the language as they write along, so don't be surprised if Yuuzahn Vong speak from different books doesn't match up. :p

Yeah, people in my class speak fluent Dark Elfish. But I think too that the authors pretty much make up the Yuuzhan Vong language as they go along.

Great idea, Gath! While we're on the topic of languages, does GL have specific languages like Huttese basically worked out, like Tolkien's Elvish? Or does he just put a pile of weird words together and put on subtitles?

great idea although it might be difficult to create a new language. Tolkien was the last person who did it.

No, there's some structure. Believe me, it would be REAL obvious if they were just BSing.

Right there we've got some conversational Yuuzhan Vong, but we would have to know conjugation, parts of speech, etc.

    Wow, that's way too focused.

That does't mean you have to translat it.

In regards to what someone asked earlier,GL did and does have Huttese worked out pretty well (but not nearly as well as the second-rate, bored, boring, Early-Middle English scholar with way too much time on his hands had his pseudo-language worked out to)

Huttese is based on a dialect of the ancient (IIRC) Peruvian language, used by the peoples who used to inhabit the area around Maccu Piccu, with alterations made to pronunciation and sentense phrasing, and some other minor adjustments. I doubt that GL actually knows this language, and even if he does, then he still probably had someone else translate it for him. I wonder if anyone really does know the language anymore...*I muse to myself*

I think Burtt did most of the languages in the films.

And I don't think there's as much demand for a published dictionary. ;)

I don't think we will ever know more than a few phrases. We will never be exposed to anything more than a brief glimpse of the vonguage. But still, i agree, why not compile a list of what we do know? Just a bit of fun.

Well we can do this much.

Come languages depends on the poeple and were they live.

For example talian Language has streched of Vowel, were germen has short Vowels.

This is a theory: Some people think thats because Italians are from farely warm places. So they let in lots of air. When Germens live in colder places so they let in less, not opening thier mouths much.

Another thing is it's orgin. Like the English Language. It comes from many other sources. Like Latin, Greek, germen, franch and others but mostly Latin in Greek.
