    I got a spoiler!

Obi-1 & Hett did fight on Tatooine. Hett comes down to Beru's farm with his Tusken war party to kill settlers that have taken their lands. Obi-1 is standing outside, they meet & greet, fight, someone loses a hand & then later that same someone admits defeat. Obi-1 banishes him from Tatooine. The art is bloody gorgeous!!!!!!1

Darth Stryfe is a born Sith. He appears to be Krayt's Fist.

No, it s*cks to live at the same era - or soon after - in a galaxy which has a "hero" like this.

Would Obi-Wan be a better Jedi if he killed every misguided fool that he ever met?

He didn't kill a guy. Oh noes, Krayt is all Obi-Wan's fault. Obi-Wan went out and made him do evil.

Seriously, Rouge, does anyone meet your standards of heroism? Or are they all miserable failures because someone sneezed next to them once and they didn't say "Bless you"?

Ask yourself: How many people have died because Obi-wan did not kill him? Obi-wan had killed a huge amount of people during his career by this time, so he is able to finish things instead of letting every more or less bad guy or girl walk away free. He had a chance to give the galaxy a better future right there, but he did not take it. Should we then now praise him for letting Hett first live, and then for unleashing Darth Krayt to the galaxy by apparently telling Hett to leave Tatooine? There is a clear link from Obi-wan sparing and exiling Hett to what happens in the Legacy era. Otherwise we would not see this. And so the simple fact is that there would be no New Sith Order if Obi-wan would have killed Hett. How hard it is to understand that?

He might not have been a better Jedi, but certainly the inhabitants of the galaxy would have had a happier future if he would have killed every misguided dangerous fool he ever met.

It's Spider-man syndrome. Peter Parker didn't stop the Thief when he had a chance; Thief later kills gentle Uncle Ben. Uncle Ben's death is all Peter's fault for not stopping him when he could.

In this case, Hett wasn't yet a Sith or even a Dark Jedi. A'Sharad really hasn't done anything that his father, Sharad, hadn't done earlier. Killing him would not have been an appropriate response for a Jedi.

Don't be too hard on Rouge. I suspect he hasn't read the issue yet. He just likes his chance to complain early.<g>

Jan or John could you clear something up.

I'm a bit unclear on HOW Hett loses his arm. Was it sliced off in that far away panel with the tuskens watching the jedi duel and then Obi-Wan pushes the severed limb free? OR Does he simply just use the force to push the forearm straight off?

LOVED this issue. Nice flashback. Great duel. I hope we see more about Hett's past.

The problem with entirely blaming Obi-Wan for the New Sith Order is the same as blaming him for the Empire. By the time Obi-Wan got his chance to kill Anakin the bulk of the Jedi Purge had already occured, Palpatine was already Emperor and the Empire already existed. Had Obi-Wan killed Anakin what would he have really achieved? One certain fact is that Darth Vader wouldn't have been alive to toss Palpatine down the Death Star shute. Would Palpatine have died anyway? Probably. The Empire would still have existed though. Palpatine would probably have just taken a different apprentice. Tarkin would still have been there to blow up Alderaan. Etc. Obi-Wan has to carry the blame to a certain extent but it was not entirely his fault.

Once we know the full story with Hett and the New Sith Order there may well be a similar chain of uncertain variables that could have seen things turn out the same way no matter what Obi-Wan did. In the end I feel a lot will depend on how Hett ends up a Sith. If he just goes "Hey, I'm gonna become a Sith!" then maybe it'll be all Obi-Wan's fault. If a third party is involved though then had it not been Hett it may well have just been someone else instead.

One Moment! He had his arm sliced off? But in the image with his reveal, where he takes of the mask, there are two hands, out of flesh and blood, I mean, he has even nails on every hand that seems organic!

In a later panel, I think we see his stump smoking, but I'm with you in that I think I missed the slice that removed the arm...

Nothing, theoretically, prevents him from getting a cloned replacement or a convincing prosthesis.

And Rouge: Second chances are kind of, I dunno, big with Jedi? Being into that "compassion" crap and all? You're right, the Jedi would be so much better if they weren't Jedi and instead they were an order of 10,000 Punishers. Sure, Obi-Wan's killed people before, but he's done it with a little more justification than "You were attempting to defend your tribal lands and might, possibly, one day, become a Sith Lord."

Incidentally, does this issue have any Krayt backstory beyond that time period, or are we to assume that will be interwoven into the rest of the arc?

This is the same man who let his "brother" burn alive. That act alone makes Obi-wan more like the Punisher than a "redemption is everything" kind of Jedi.

Obi-wan apparently defeats Hett before the tribesmen that follow him, so humiliating Hett. He cuts off an arm from Hett and then orders him to leave Tatooine, if the spoilers are to be believed. Lots of reasons for a Jedi to lose his faith in the Jedi Order in an era when it is already been defeated and reduced to a small number of survivors living in hiding. The only surprising thing seems to be that in his quest to get Hett go dark Obi-wan did not buy Hett a ticket to a ship going to Korriban.

Interesting... that makes me wonder if it isn't his Yuuzhan Vong armour and/or coral seed infection that's "failing him" but a bodged replacement part like Boba Fett's problem with his leg in LOTF.

If so, the significance of this issue would be less to do with Obi-Wan being the cause of Hett becoming a Sith and more to do with Hett's reason for wanting Cade's powers.

Or Darth Krayt might not be the original Hett, but a clone, which again would give him the same problems as Boba Fett, who had more problems than just the leg in LotF; his whole body was failing.

so did kenobi slice hett's arm off with his saber, or did he force-push it off? because if he did, that's quite badass.
