In answer to the fteiks comments in the locked thread. In actuality there was really only one source that said that first contact with the mon cals was after the empire took over.

But all other sources including farlander papers allows for old republic knowledge of the mon cals and quarrens.

Even TPM showed the quarrens. I'm aware that though a fix was tried to be made for the quarrens(from inside the worlds of star wars), that they are senators from a quarren colony world.

But it would seem that darkhorse ignored it, when they created hunt for aurra sing.

Who knows perhaps we will see the ol' fish heads in ep 2, or 3, which would conflict with that part of the EU anyways, so perhaps they are just changing the matter now to ease people into it.

On the other hand that would leave that first contact story which only 1 or 2 sources mention as being propaganda of some type.

Perhaps originally spread by empire when they tried to rewrite and change the knowledge of history to one that better honors the glories of the empire.
