ST Daisy Ridley (Rey) in Episode VII

I would have to agree, I suppose she could be cynical and world weary if the New Republic is constantly under seige..but seems a stretch.

 

There's no way I can see Leia having died between ROTJ and episode 7. That would be a complete and utter total cop out in my opinion and would anger the vast majority of fans who want to see the Big 3 together again. Plus, why would Carrie Fisher even need to be in the movie? If Leia was only to appear as a holo recording then that could be done digitally. As Carrie is alive and well, and looking better than she has for a long time, plus her being so excited to be in this movie, it makes no sense for Leia to already be dead. She could be killed off during the movie, that's certainly quite possible. But there's zero chance of the movie opening with her already having passed away. Not going to happen.

 

JJ: Sorry Carrie, but we're going to have to cut you from the movie.
Carrie: WHAT?!? But I lost 40 lbs for the role!
JJ: Its unfortunate, but I forgot to tell you we cut you out of the screenplay way back in '12.
Carrie: But I've filmed like, 80 scenes!!!
JJ: It doesn't matter, your character has been dead since about 2 years after ROTJ
Carrie: You made me do my own stunts! You said it would look much better on film!
Harrison Ford: Sorry that was my fault, I made the suggestion
JJ: On the bright side, some of that stunt footage might make it onto the specialer edition Blu Rays.
Carrie: Well, thats considerate of you...
JJ: But we're going to replace you with a brand new CGI Leia.

I just wish they would confirm who Daisy is. The entirety of our speculation revolves around the idea of her being a Solo kid. I know that's likely to be the case, but I don't want to assume anything with this movie. I wish they would confirm it either way so I can go on speculating what she'll be like as a Solo, or so I can start speculating on who else she could play. I haven't seriously considered what other role she could be playing at all.

 

I'de laugh if the first image of her in costume had her in Twi'lek head tails.

 

I know, right? That's exactly what I mean. Before I go any further down the Solo kid rabbit hole, I'd like to make sure she is a Solo kid! It would be comical at this point if she wasn't.

 

Strange-if Daisy is Han/Leia's daughter, it's very curious as to why she would be in the Tatooine shots. What in the world would she be doing there?

I always found that putting the Queen, posing as the handmaiden, with Qui-Gonn on Tatooine was forced and only done for the purpose of having her meet Anakin, but never really fit well with the story.

Actually, most of the Tatooine sequence in TPM never really fit into the story.

 

Probably at some point in the movie she needs to seek out her uncle?

 

There are a million reasons why Han and Leia's kid could be on Tatooine, we have no idea what the story entails yet.

Well the only other possible approach I could think of if Daisy is not a Solo kid would be that Daisy/Boyega are two characters who get caught up in the drama of the skywalker stuff. Perhaps Driver is a Solo kid who is now evil or something of that nature.

I don't personally think thats how its going to play out though. The only thing that supports the point above is Daisy's age seems a tad young for the offspring of a 70 year old man and a woman pushing her sixties. But, then again, I don't think that matters all that much.

 

I agree. I just think it'd be funny if everyone was way off with the solo kid idea. I really hope she is a Jaina-ish character.

 

Leia would only be in her early 50s and Han is in his early 60s, remember the characters are younger than the actors. And I still think there is a possibility that they also have an older kid too and Daisy is the youngest.

 

Right, if Daisy's character is about 20, she would have been born about 10 years after RoTJ when Leia was about 33 and Han 43. So perfectly reasonably ages. She certainly could be their kid.

I imagine if she is a Solo kid, her presence on Tatooine could have something to do with Uncle Luke. Maybe he's training her and they have to go back to his homeplanet and that's where they meet John. Just because Mark Hamill doesn't seem to be filming now doesn't mean he won't be involved in this part of the movie. A lot of the Tatooine stuff could also be filmed on sets in England.

 

Why?

Maybe JJ/Lucasfilm instructed her to do so. Then again, not sure why. Everyone knows they are filming down there.

 

Maybe the picture gave away too much, like the exact spot they filmed out in the duned sea area.

Since most of the desert looks exactly like that I'm not sure what that pic is supposed to give away. Weird indeed.

 

The speculation that Daisy is a Solo comes from her looking like a combination of a young Natalie Portman and Carrie Fisher, and the fact that she was sitting in-between Harrison and Carrie in the reading shot that JJ released. It's not an unreasonable assumption for people to make.

 

I don't think anyone is saying it is unreasonable. I'd say 99% of folks here and elsewhere online think she is a Solo. But there's always that chance that JJ could be screwing with us and I know I would really like to have confirmation to just know for sure!

 

Plus her dad practically "outed" her in that article in the Mirror, and she had coffee with Harrison Ford. There seems to be more evidence for her being a Solo than not. But of course we still don't know for sure. But I'd be really shocked if she wasn't.

 

He also made the comment, and I wish I could remember exactly how he said it, that she has what it will take to play a character who is half royalty and half scoundrel.

 

He said half royalty and half action hero.

 

Ahh.. thanks. I was close though.

 

The reason I find this is so ironic is that Daisy is the daughter of a 73 year old man in real life.

 

A source out in Abu Dhabi tells me that Daisy's character is EXTREMELY gymnastic.

Apparently some of her scenes are being doubled by a dancer called Hannah Collins.

Believe or don't believe but thats what I've been told.
