Notice there is not one paparazzi pic of a male celeb getting out of a limo with his Excalibur all out for the world to see.

^ Well, there's Chris Crocker (Leave Britney alooone!!!), sort of (I.E. not really a celeb or a man in the classical sense)

Yikes. No need to lash out on the guy. The issue of "voluntarily showing skin for the purpose of art as opposed to being exposed by a papparazzi" aside, he made a reasonable statement, especially since I fail to see how two pubic hair are even worth getting worked up about (gossipers, fanboys, or Hathaway herself).
Paparazzi are well known to intentionally shoot at very low angles whenever a woman gets out of a limousine for a good decade or so (didn't Paris Hilton sort of start this?).
Now it's too bad Mrs. Hathaway didn't keep to bladed heels from TDKR. Surely those would have come in handy for said situation.

That's because Matthew McConaughey's assistants make him wear pants before letting him out for red carpet events/interviews.:p

    nope

Just because paparazzi are well known to do something doesn't make it okay for them to do it. And WOW at the statement that Paris Hilton "started it." Wow.

Question: how many times in your life have you uttered the phrase "she was asking for it"? Rough estimate.

I'm glad you wouldn't be upset by having photos of your genitals widely distributed against your will. At least in that case, you won't ever have to go through something like this. However, in a nod to concepts like privacy and basic dignity, we tend to recognize that people's comfort levels with this sort of thing are highly personal, which is why we let them set the boundaries for how much of their body the will or will not expose at a given time in the first place. For someone to blatantly disregard those wishes is a "big deal."

Good lord, why the hell would anyone think I'm defending paparazzi scum?
I'm at a loss for words here. The reason I posted here in the first place was because I didn't understand why everyone was making a deal out of the pictures, let alone open a thread about it, when there are only pubic hair on display, NOT her genitals. Paparazzi have taken far more incriminating shots of celebrities. Never did I say this was in any way okay, or decent, or honorable. Yet it happens, it has become part of their nasty "profession". They're bottom-feeding scum, no two ways about it, but they are part of the weird Hollywood game.

I don't recall ever using that phrase. And don't you dare implying a "Bill O'Reilly rape argument" spin on me.

As for Paris Hilton, let's not forget who we are talking about here. She ishowed off her genitals time and time again. Accidentally, maybe. To stay in the tabloids and increase her revenue as a result, not highly unlikely. She became infamous this way in the first place. She's smarter in that regard than most people would give her credit for. And no, she isn't the only celebrity who makes calculated use of paparazzi whenever they need publicity (good or bad).
Again, it is clear Mrs. Hathaway isn't one of those types, thankfully.

And yes, I stick by my previous post: Before Hilton's rise to fame paparazzi limousine shots weren't a widespread thing. She's done it more than once, and so did her possé at the time (Spears, Lohan, party girl #4). Heck, even Family Guy made a cutaway gag with Peter stepping out of a limo because it started to become a re-occuring gossip thing.

Billy Dee... let's get something clear. Paris Hilton... whatever your perception of her is, did not start the crotch shot thing. The person who photographed her did.

    *sigh*

harpuah: Well, that I agree with. She didn't start it. But after that incident involving her happened, it broke off a chain off these limousine shots. And no one should be so naive to think paparazzi would suddenly hold back on these pictures. Regardless, celebrities keep on stepping out of limos commando style. Clearly, it must be because the risk of being stoned by the media for visible panty lines is a risk not worth taking...

Also, it's December. In summer, I can see the point of catching a little breeze, but in friggin' December?

Yep, let's all just go black and white on this and just straight away declare me a pro-rapist.
It's been a pleasant day on the JCC, but I gotta go and hang out with my BFF Todd Akin now.

I'm on both sides of this fence actually.

On one hand...yeah the guy was wrong for posting the pic instead of deleting it. Total dishonor.

But on the other hand...dammit girl, you have to be prepared for anything. Sure it's your choice not to cover the chassis, but you have to be mindful that there will always be some little pointy headed little creep waiting to get his jollies from your humiliation.

I can't wrap my head around the mentality that says "The problem already exists, its your fault for not protecting yourself".

    Really?

What about people who don't use any form of birth control or "safe sex" ? Seat belts? Smoking? Sun block? Dental hygiene? Locks? Complicated passwords? Firewalls/virus protection? Etc, etc, etc. Can't wrap your head around that?

It's not Anne Hathaway's fault, but I would advise any celebrity women who are gonna be getting out of the limo with a dress on to wear underwear and/or have a large person stand in front of you to protect against perverted cameramen, assuming they care if pictures of their genitals end up online.

Before someone has a stroke, yes trying to sneak upskirt shots is incredibly creepy. I do not approve. But short of mobilizing to ban paparazzi, there's nothing anyone can do, that's the way it is, so take precaution if you want to avoid the problem.

HUGE world of difference there. Talking about the "blame the victim" mentality, while ignoring the more important issue at hand.
