    Cad Bane was so powerful, he could even save those threads he cared about from dying....?

    Cad Bane to lost protagonism. THINK THAT THEY CAD BANE FENCE TO DISAPPEAR?!

    Meme from another forum I go to, so I seriously doubt anyone will get it. If they do, awesome, and I didn't know that you lurked on Rockman Perfect Memories. :p If you want to know the context, a user by the name of falconx said in July of 2006, "PROTOMAN to lost protagonism. THINK THAT THEY PROTOMAN FENCE TO DISAPPEAR?"

    Cad Bane does he contradict ROTS! Because ROTS says that about Plagueis, but if Cad Bane is made into that, Plagueis obviously isn't the name that should be used in ROTS, so ROTS is wrong! Contradiction, if you ask me.

    Maybe Plagueis is Duros too? That would fix the continuity problem.

    Not from a Jedi.
    Technically your quote should be "Is it possible to learn this power?"

    Well he does have no nose...

    Maybe for the sake of clarity (and to avoid all this fuzzy comparative logic) we should come up with some distinct features necessary to unambiguously identify someone as Duros.

    To wit,
    * noselessness
    * blue skin
    * red eyes

    Secondary (facultative) features apparently include
    * breathing tubes
    * hat
    * being in Chalmun's Cantina

    These could be used to strengthen an argument when identification according to the obligatory features is in doubt (e.g. a noseless, red-eyed being with kind-of-bluish-but-also-somewhat-greenish skin might have a better shot at being accepted as Duros if he/she has been observed frequenting Chalmun's Cantina, wearing a hat).

    Voilà, the first steps towards a Durological Formalism.

    Let's see how this works with Plagueis then...

    Noseless? Tick.
    Blue skin? In the right lighting? Sure.
    Red eyes? If he's angry. Tick.

    Breathing tubes? Does a rebreather mask count?
    Hat? Well, Magister Damask is all about high couture, so I'm sure he has a whole room full of expensive hats.
    Chalmun's Cantina? He probably owns it.

    Sounds pretty Duros to me. [face_whistling]

    Luckily, we have a Muun on the Seperatist Council that we can compare Cad Bane to!

    This thread is like Ed Wood. It seems to get more horrifying by the day, but you have to sort of admire its persistence.

    Rather like Cad Bane himself, regardless of what the verdict about his species turns out to be. Though I'm pretty sure the majority are leaning towards Duros.

    So the central problem is...in the EU, there are Chiss, which seem similar to this Cad Bane character who doesn't seem to be Chiss?

    Stop the press, I just thought of something.
    If Chiss are near-human, and Duros are similar to them, are Duros near-near-human? And what about Neimoidians? Near-near-near-human? Could we just take humanocentrism far enough and classify every species by their nearness to humans? For example, Bothans would be near^3-humans.
    And if you look hard enough, it's just like science.

    Humans are actually near-near-Duros.

    Have we considered that perhaps the Chiss are simply upperclass Duros who could afford facial surgery to make them more human-like?

    Maybe we just need to face the truth and accept the Chiss are all continuity errors and that the next reissue of the Thrawn Trilogy needs its cover art corrected to remove Thrawn's nose.

    Clearly, the lazy covert artist just photoshopped a human face rather than bothering to depict a Duros correctly.

    I remember a lot of description about Thrawn's eyebrows, and about a million references to his eyes, but I can't recall any reference to his nose [face_liarliar]

    Don't be so sure. According to the EU, only Chiss have blue skin and red eyes. I lost my EU book to verify this, but take the OP's word for it.

    So, I state again: How do the EU get out of this one.
