I have heard that Mirialans are all, every single one of them, connected to the Force, even if it is just a minor connection. Is this true? I've also heard they get a new tattoo for every major event in their life but I am 99.9% sure that this, at least, is fanfic. But are they all, in face, Force-sensitive?

    From the Mirialan Wookieepedia page:

"The Mirialan people were religious and practiced a primitive understanding of the Force. They believed each individual's actions contributed to their destiny. A Mirialan would place a unique, often geometrically repeated tattoo on their face and hands to signify that they had completed a certain test or task, or achieved sufficient aptitude for a certain skill. The number of tattoos would thus often act as a good indicator of how mature and/or skilled a Mirialan was."

So it seems that at least the tattoo part is true. It says the Force was part of their religion, but I don't think they actually could all use the Force. This is interesting, I hadn't heard about this before.

Huh. I was sure the tattoo part was fanon and the other part wasn't. Well, that's odd.

Yeah, the tattoos are a weird concept. I'm surprised I didn't know this before. Mirialans are definitely a cool species. If anyone knows the source material for this idea I'm curious.

As much as any living thing in the galaxy.

Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes.

They are also part of the force, Lukes Jedi just do not know how to feel them, until Anakin figures it out.

Anakin's lambent crystal had nothing to do with the NJO figuring it out.

He was part of the Order :p and he told others about it. They apparently just could not copy the trick.

Yet the Jedi still feared that the Yuuzhan Vong were outside the Force until Vergere assuaged Luke's fears in Destiny's Way. Vongsense wasn't realized to be a part of the Force until Jacen empirically figured out how to use both simultaneously in the climax of The Unifying Force after he and Luke reasoned that the Yuuzhan Vong were in the Force and they simply couldn't sense them earlier in the same book.

Anakin was the first to use vongsense, but never made any sort of correlation with it to the Force and it didn't lead to any conclusions about the Yuuzhan Vong being in the Force.

Not Anakin's fault that they did not believe him. :p

Anakin never claimed the Yuuzhan Vong were in the Force.

The Miraluka were another near-human species, all Force-sensitive, from Tales of the Jedi/Knights of the Old Republic. There are other examples in the EU of species sentient and non- that are regularly connected to the Force: it's not unheard of. Mirialan, I'm not sure, but I don't think so.

I went into this thread expecting a gruesome tabloid-worthy scandal.:(

I'll just content myself by denouncing Revanfan1 as a speciesist bigot.

If I was Mirialan I would just cover myself with tattoos so people would think I was really skilled and mature.:p

Mirialans would probably think the heavily tattooed Hell's Angels are the most skilled of all. Or those guys who do the full body tattoos. "Looked, he's so learned!"

[face_thinking] since my head canon (a.k.a. fanon) is that the Wardens of the Sky are covered in tattoos like old school seamen maybe the Mirialans were a major part of their founders?
