Anyone know what this is? Just a smaller version of the regular TPB or something different?

Afaik it is a really small booklet version with only a few preview pages of the comic and some kind of in game DLC code in the back.

Quick question: I've been purchasing omnibuses and TPB's like a madman, and I was wondering if the second Dark Times omnibus will include all the issues of Dark Times? I'm trying to avoid buying comics with open ends that will never be resolved. Damn Disney.

Dark Times Vol. 2 will have all of the remaining issues.

Oooh. And I have a question. Once the rights have been transferred over to Marvel, will we still be able to find and purchase the Omnibuses?

I haven't finished reading Dark Times myself, but from what I heard, the last issue does end on sort of a cliffhanger. :( (I could be wrong, though--hopefully I am!)

No. Every Star Wars comic produced by Dark Horse will only be sold this year, then they will be out of print in 2015. The only way to find them starting in January will be via eBay, Amazon marketplace, secondhand bookshops, etc.--and they probably won't be cheap.

Basically consider everything Star Wars Dark Horse to be limited edition.

I wouldn't say that it ends on a perfect wrap-up, there is obviously room for more stories featuring some of the characters.

With that being said, it wasn't nearly as big of a plot-hole as something like the cancellation of Invasion or Knight Errant or anything else. The final arc does resolve, but the overall story still has some wiggle room, if that makes any sense.

Yeesh...I have no chance to get these. I pretty much never have extra money. I guess I need to figure out which ones I would consider most important (if any considering their non-canon status) and get those at least. Any recommendations?

Don't fret even if you miss out by January...used book stores will sell these things for years to come. Just yesterday I was in my local Half Price Books and I saw some of the Marvel-era omnibus, Quinlan Vos, and a Rogue Squadron one.

I personally recommend Quinlan Vos: Jedi in Darkness for one of the most compelling, enduring, and complete sagas in the expanded universe. You'll want to buy the Clone Wars omnibus series as well, as a continuation of his story, in addition to some other very solid stories from the pre-Ahsoka era.

I also liked the Empire vs. Rebellion stories in At War With the Empire vol. 1/2 and Last Sons of Tatooine. They are much better than Star Wood, and substantially less goofy than the Marvel and early Dark Horse (collected in Early Victories) volumes that precede them.

KotoR is the only other one I would feel comfortable with recommending to just about anyone who is into Star Wars, among items that made the cut to omnibus format. A totally new cast, great humor, and a plot that gets more interesting as the series goes along. Only problem is the art team is very inconsistent.

I'm just going to go ahead and second everything Mind Riot said because he/she is spot-on with those recommendations.

The only addition I think I would make are the three Legacy hardcovers. The Legacy comics are great at worldbuilding a true post-Vong galaxy (much better than the post-NJO novels did) with some really interesting, tough yet humorous characters. Bit of a rushed ending, but you could do a lot worse. The catch? They're hardcovers--so they might be a bit too steep for scrunched budgets. If you can find them at a discount, though, get on 'em!

Don't forget Legacy Volume 2! 3-4 TPB's at regular price!

I haven't had a chance to read those yet (at this point I'm just waiting on them all to be released as TPBs, then read them all together), but assuming they're at the same quality level as Legacy I, then definitely!

Tone is very different from Vol. 1. Starts slow but its clicking along now. Small scale story following a small cast of characters and not the big cast over the entire galaxy like the first one did.

Ok, I would definitely also look at reviews before committing to anything and get other opinions, because I don't want to reccomend something you'll hate and have you waste your money. That being said, I have definitively enjoyed both Tales of the Jedi omnibuses, Quinlan Vos, Clone Wars 1-3 (mostly just because it continues Quinlan's story), and the first two Kotor omnibuses (#3 is on the top of my to order list!).

I would not strongly reccomend the Phantom Menace era omnibuses (Rise of the Sith, Emissaries and Assassins, and Menace Revealed). They aren't awful, but they're a lot less consistent than any of the stuff I recommended. The old Marvel Star Wars omnibuses are...interesting. I actually enjoyed them (my username refers to a Marvel era character) but they're goofy, weird, and they end pretty poorly. Definitely not a priority, but if you see one at a library, go ahead and read it.

Finally, I have Infinities, which offers alternative takes on what could've happened in the movies. "What ifs". It's definitely interesting, but doesn't actually offer any new stories, really.

I have no experience with Rogue Squadron, Other Sons of Tattooine, Early Victories, Shadows of the Empire, Dark Times, or Adventures.

That's my two cents. Hope it helps!
