3 pages on this? This is desperation...
Guys I'm inclined to believe the "hand rumor" because Devin is a veteran at this and trusts his source, and because it was about something specific to the plot. If you had insider knowledge and for some unknown reason wanted to leak it, detailing the opening scene would be a good start. A post on a creepy site about vague, unimportant stuff to the plot that you could probably guess and be right is the direct opposite of this.

One element that I don't like about these Mizzly Wizzly Wumors ...

Why aren't there any Jedi in the 30 years past ROTJ?

What ever happened to Yoda's edict: "Pass on what you have learned..."?

All good questions the film will presumably answer if this is the route taken.

I'm sure the writers will think they have good answers, at any rate. Fans might not agree.

Updating this to compare it with the new BadAssDigest/LatinoReview/IndieRevolver rumors:

    >Leia is made leader of the Republic after her predecessor’s death
    >Han is a retired veteran of the Republic fleet (Fits with Devin's rumor about Han now piloting a Super Star Destroyer)
    >Luke hasn’t been seen in nearly 30 years (First rumor to state this)
    >the lead character is Han and Leia’s daughter (Stated before DR was cast)
    >the other lead is the child of Lando, and either a male or female depending on who is cast (Not an exact fit, but Oscar Isaacs was just described as "the new Lando... complete with cape" by Devin. Maybe the "Lando's child" character became "Lando's protege"?)
    >the other lead is a Stormtrooper, also either a male or female depending on who is cast (Stated before JB was cast or rumored to be a stormtrooper)
    >dialogue for these two characters is very rough in the second draft
    >Luke has no known offspring (First rumor to state this)
    >The Empire still exists in the form of a number of loyal galaxies and are in a state of cold war with the Republic (First rumor to claim the Empire still exists)
    >The Empire is simply referred to as the “Empire,” and the Republic is referred to formally only once, as the “Galactic Republic;” no “New” anywhere
    >There are no Jedi whatsoever, and people still speak as if they are extinct, with Luke being “the last of his kind” (First rumor to state this)
    >The main antagonists are an older student of the Emperor, and his apprentice (Stated before JVS and Driver were cast)
    >The apprentice takes control of the power dynamic between the two pretty quickly…
    >The Republic are excavating ruins on a neutral world for a weapon; the world factors into tense negotiations the Empire have had with the Republic, and is referred to as the “Sith Homeworld” (Stated before Devin and Billy brought up a superweapon on a planet)
    >Loredump: In the script, the Sith are a couple thousand years old, founded by an ancestor of Palpatine called Ruin; the apprentice in this film also goes by that name
    >the ruins within the Sith Homeworld are a control station; the planet itself is the weapon
    >Luke saves the day at the end, but in a bad way; he has changed (Stated before the Starwars7news rumor of a Luke boss fight) (First to imply Luke uses the DS to save the day)

Actually, I'd never thought about that possibility - what if Isaac is Lando's son, rather than the immediate thought of it being JB (which I've never bought)?

It was that part of the rumour that always threw me before as I knew JB was playing a stormtrooper, but if it is Isaac and he is the 3rd lead that would no longer be a weird issue.

We heard reports in the spring that both black and white actors were considered for Boyega's role:

I think it's possible that both black and white actors were also considered for Isaac's role. They may have originally intended for the character to be black and Lando's child, but fell in love with Isaac in the part. It would have been easy for them to change the script to make Lando's child his apprentice. No force powers, so no real reason a character who is like a son to Lando would need to be his actual biological son.

It would also explain why Isaac's character even wanted to get the Falcon, a very old and outdated ship by this point, back from Han and Chewie. It's his mentor's ship.

Maybe that was the role Chiwetl Ejiofor was up for. I mean IF it was Lando's kid he wouldn't have to be black. Or, he could be Lando's step-son (in the original ESB draft, didn't Han have to convince his step-father to help or was it his uncle) or as you say, his apprentice or whatever.

    Or none of the above.

Pretty sure it was clarified after the initial report that those actors were up for lead roles and not necessarily for the same part.

Possible. But, then again, Ejofor could have been up for another role. He could have been looked as the villain.

Also, if this report is 100 percent correct(I'm skeptical that it is); It was the second draft. So that may put it around late summer/early fall of last year. There may be significant changes characters/plot in the final product.

Your right, it isn't a good fit. Again, I don't think this person read the script; I think they got some bits and pieces from an earlier script.

Also if Han was an admiral, would he even be piloting his own capitol ship? He would be in charge of the ship and the fleet, with other guys piloting it.

You would think. But then again Star Wars movies can be pretty stupid about this stuff. It depends on how stupid it is.

Do you have a link? Because I haven't seen that possibility mentioned anywhere outside of this board.

I would just love to see Han Chewie and maybe the two droids piloting a super star destroyer all by themselves. :D It would take like the entire cast to have enough people looking at the sensors.

Most of these rumors are too generic to be considered anything but a good guess. Han piloting a Star Destroyer, and a super at that is just plain stupid.

The idea that Han is still in the Falcon slanging spice around the Galaxy at damn near 60 years old is just as stupid imo. At least the Star Destroyer thing sounds like a natural progression for the character.
