The developers said anything that shows up in the game is indeed canon.

We're now mid-ANH. The Falcon escaped from Tattooine and we're searching for Obi-Wan's lair. Saponza dislikes Jedi cause they were, u know snobbish jerks who thought were above regular folk.

Which is weird since the opening crawl places the game after the Death Star's destruction.

The search for Ben's hut, as with the rest of the game, does take place long after ANH. The reason they're even looking for Ben on Tatooine is because he was brought onto the Death Star on the Millennium Falcon, which shortly before was seen leaving Mos Eisley spaceport. Within the very same chapter of the game the "setback on Yavin 4" is mentioned.

On similar note, The ship that Obi-wan took to Tatooine had a crashed landing. You investigate the wreckage of the ship and even come across some marks on the hull "only a lightsaber would make".

Oh cool, thanks. I'm playing as the Alliance, but I haven't gotten that far in the story yet. I'll be interested to see what the Rebel perspective on that mission is (when the Imperials were raiding Jawa villages, for example, we were taking out hostile pirates in Jawa land, because the Jawa chief was interested in being our supplier).

I wish you could play through both story lines, since that's really all I'm interested in this game for.

Same, that's why I have a separate Imperial game on my iPad.:p Unfortunately the Rebel alternative doesn't follow the Obi-wan plot, but instead focuses on a crashed rebel supply ship named Atoms Edge.

Oh darn. I played that chapter already. No Obi-Wan for me.

Its interesting that this is canon. I had read an interview awhile back with the developers and they'd said it kind of was and wasn't canon:

    http://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-wars-commander-out-today-dev-promises-its-not/1100-6421844/

So I suppose what they're saying is that both the Rebel and Imperial stories can't both happen, depending on which you choose. I guess that makes it canon, but with its own personal canon for players depending on which side you choose (like Mass Effect did with all its various choices and outcomes across that series).

Or you could argue that both happen. The only thing that's contradictory between the two story lines is who Saponza's mercs side with, but were these events included in an Essential guide, you could easily hand wave it with a line about how "After the destruction of the Death Star, the Empire and the Alliance expanded their efforts throughout the galaxy. On Outer Rim worlds like Tatooine, where neither side had any official presence, both sides sponsored proxy wars between bands of local mercenaries, each trying to keep the Hutt controlled planet sympathetic to their cause."

Or I dunno. Something like that.

Aayla surviving O66 would be quite amusing, given her back should be charbroiled. :p

Nah, I know as a rule anyone can come back in SW (evidence: Maul), but Aayla was killed with almost glee. The initial shots we saw take her down, in the back and at close range using rifles, followed by the entire squads continuing to empty their guns into her prone body. She is very, very dead, as opposed to just a little dead.

As to the game itself, its alright. It's a nice little distraction to tinker with, though I can only play at home, as my phone is pay as you go (and thus no native internet, I rely on my home router.)

    To paraphrase The Princess Bride:

Maul was Only Mostly Dead, compared to Aayla's All Dead. Now Mostly Dead is Slightly Alive. With All Dead though - there's only one thing you can do ... go through their clothes and look for loose change.

This made me laugh more than it should have.

DelRiego (or anyone playing the game) -- have you played Galactic Battlegrounds or Empire at War? Is this like either of those? Or is it sort of its own thing?

I had and you could say it's the same genre, but nowhere as deep and it has all the restraints of a freemium game - namely: waiting, waiting and some more waiting. Unless you spend real money.

    Spot on.

Anyone working to further the glory of the Empire want to form a squad? My handle is Thorne. Thinking, perhaps, LegendsOfLit?
