Then, maybe Making should ask these four sources what Ridley is playing. I imagine that shouldn't be too difficult, should it?

Hmm?? It has been daid a lot of times she is Han and Leia´s offspring. He even says it in the report of the other day.

From one source yes. But not from these four sources who claim Gleason is Luke's son.

How do you know how many sources have said him that? Rey has been rumored to play a Solo since day one. Even some reports the most the say is that she is an orphan, which very well could be a tiny twist added in the Act I in order to give a nice reveal via Han, as MSW suggest.

Exactly. Relatives of those who were on the Death Stars, relatives of those who may have perished at the hands of Darth Vader. Yeah, I'd say the Skywalkers and Solos have reasons to be looking over their shoulders.

Actually. Making has never made any mention of her playing a Solo apart from that article.

In fact he was saying until quite recently that he didn't think she was a Solo (she is...)

And assuming Domhnall is a Skywalker (still only a rumour, albeit with mileage), he wasn't in the trailer which suggests to me that we still know who our new trio of heroes are, and that Domhnall's role is somewhat different even if he is a legacy character.

Yep, I think the big question is WHY there is a new Skywalker that is not the front and center of the trilogy.

star wars isnt about gender equality. its a space fantasy. you cannot or should not teach real world lessons in this universe- like the 9/11 democracy allusions in the pt. im going to gffa to get away from that and focus on incest, betrayal, bickering, big guns, big toys, and laser sounds. There is: her name is Daisy (or Rey, or Kira or something...)

If, and it's still an if, this latest batch of rumours is true, then Domhnall is going to be a really interesting character which I always had a hunch about since his first interview where he said he wouldn't have taken the role because it's SW but because of how interesting the character he is playing is (I'm paraphrasing here).

My hunch is that he has good and bad qualities in equal measure; the sort of complexity that SW is not all that used to, but I'm absolutely fine with, in fact I relish the prospect. So maybe he doesn't fit into the 'hero' mould so readily even if what he ends up doing is heroic, or perhaps more accurately, what he himself perceives as necessary and right. Either we'll end up with a quartet of heroes in VIII, or as a gut punch we may see him die in VII perhaps making the 'heroic' sacrifice. I say this because I'm still pretty convinced that the Skywalker legacy is Daisy's story. Having the two of them forming that legacy might work, but I'm not entirely sold on the idea that giving the Luke-style hero's journey to two people would be as powerful. There's more at stake if only one Skywalker is around to take up the cause so to speak.

Usually in these big franchises they want the lead characters to go through a Heroes Journey, His character probably doesn't go through the hero journey like Rey or Finn. From MSW's descriptions of his arc, he sounds more like a Aragorn than a Frodo if you catch my drift. Already capable , knows what his mission is and what he has to do and is probably running from a grander destiny. So maybe it's like most people suspect and his role will become bigger as the trilogy moves forward. I don't think he'll usurp Rey or Finn though.

Domhnall can be the leader of the jedi order luke die. It would be a supporting role in episode 8, 9 similar to Mace

Yeeep. Point taken. Not following the hero´s journey and being grey might be good scuses not to use him as the main lead, or lead trio for this instance. The thing with this movie, if rumors are true, is that there are a lot of differnet characters to develop. We probably have two hero´s journey already with Finn and Rey, another one with a 30 yo guys does not seem to be a priority.

In fact, I have always thought, probably because of the PT, that with 30 years you are too old to start the Jedi path, so I would assume that the only characters with the right age (maybe already too old as well) are Finn and Rey. That would leave Dom´s character two options IMO. He´s already a full fledged Jedi, or he won´t be a Jedi ever. Remember there was a forumer at The Cantina that climaed that Finn will have a moment similar to the one with Luke and the X-Wing in Dagobah and that the lad trio will meet Dom at the end of the movie in a really important scene.

    I want to know.

Quite simple, we have 3 heroes (Rey, Finn, Dom) and all 3 of them will be more or less Jedi and on the heroes side. So what is this? Mainly a rehash of the OT. It is much more interesting when we have heroes with a much different background and also with a different route that each of them may take. Like Rey going the traditional 'Luke' jouney, then we have Finn who may be more in the traditional Obi-Wan way, Poe more like Han and the very intriguing and new journey of Dom as a 'grey' character. We don't know his journey yet and there are so many possibilities for such a character. And each of them is important. ;)

Neither LFL or Disney can sue or go after a site legally just because they have a scoop on a plot point or rumor, even if it's true.

They can only sue if they post stolen copyright materials such as photos or concept art. Which actually is the VERY reason why Jason never actually posts the art he describes.

OK, so they can't sue, but they sure can put the thumbscrews on, and also go after the supposed 'sources' for violation of NDA's... And almost ALL the rumors being picked up (by everywhere but TF.N it seems, interestingly enough) are originating from MSW, or leading back to them.

Just an observation - everyone can go back to the 'SOS' (who sounds more and more like a certain now gender swapped EU character that I had hoped would have been permanently banished to the Netherlands) postings.

And I'll say it now before people jump my hash for 'just EU bashing' - I just can't see LUKE abandoning/turning his back on his SON like HE was abandoned. Perceived 'greater good' or not. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Well, quite difficult to compare both Anakin and Luke. Anakin went mad and didn't even know he still have kids, and they were babies. When Luke leaves, Dom should be around 20. Old enough to go through a mission.

Sites like MSW do not reveal their source's indentities and also wait to post their scoops until the source tells them its okay to, in order to protect that person. Very likely, both the source and MSW know what they are doing so that the source does not get caught. And in the case the source gets caught, then he/she will be gone and not be able to provide further scoops. Simple as that. As of now, the source is still feeding them, so all good so far.

That's why I hope Luke and his son are working together to bring down the Empire once and for all and give the Alliance back the ideals it seems to have lost after so many years of war. The Alliance of the OT would never have built a Death Star no matter what and this could be way Luke went into exile in the first place. Both sides are wrong and you have Luke in the middle bidding his time and putting the pieces in place to put things right.

Yes, the more I think about it the more I believe Dom is straight up undercover and secretly working in cahoots with his father to get rid of the super weapons. I would think that when we are introduced to Dom's character and most of the way through the movie thereafter, it will be presented that Gleeson is a straight up Tarkin-like character. People who haven't followed spoilers will just think he is an imperial giving/taking orders. It will likely be revealed in the last act who he really is and why he was doing it.

Eh, for the same reasons they haven't 'sniped' rumors of Ridley as a Solo? Or Luke as a being with Force powers so advanced that he is struggling with reality? Or anything else which may prove true of the film? In other words, because they are treating this 'Domhnall Skywalker' rumor the same way they have each and every other rumor we've read about.

And I think that reason is because, by actively seeking to put a stop to any particular rumor, Disney/Lucasfilm almost by definition "confirms" it

In fact, the only action taken by Disney (which we publicly know about) concerns their looking into the poster who leaked that original photo of Kylo Ren (but they didn't seek to move on that until recently; after the cat was already out of the bag with the character, so their action wouldn't confirm anyone's suspicions as to its authenticity).

They've not commented about any other rumor, either way, that I can recall. Just a little fun by JJ here and there. "Loose lips sink starships."

    That would be my guess.

I agree! I see no reason why anyone should be "overshadowed," at all.

Over the course of three films, I see no reason why there's not enough story or screen time for Luke's boy to contribute something really great without taking anything away from Boyega, Ridley or Isaac. I don't understand the fear one or two members have expressed on this front (akin to "This is supposed to be Daisy's story, and now, if this rumor is true, here comes another guy to ruin that.").

To me, that's a little silly. And if for no other reason than because even if Gleeson is a Skywalker, we've nothing which indicates that any other character's story has been whittled down to make room for him.

On the contrary! The rumor just makes it sound like Domhnall's character has a really interesting, really cool part to play in the tale, just like everybody else. That's what we are all hoping to get out of each and every actor/character, aren't we? Really terrific story contributions? This is a good thing.

The fact that he may be Luke's boy shouldn't take away from any of that for people, I think. If everything else in the rumor, except for the name "Skywalker," were unchanged, would anyone read MSW's report and suddenly be afraid for Daisy's importance?

    That's cool.

I'm certainly not asking you to buy into this, or any other, rumor. I absolutely do hope Gleeson is Luke's son, but by no means does that mean I want everybody else to feel the same. :)

And as to the bold selection? "Not that big of a deal," as compared with whom?

At the time the actors were all cast and revealed to us, Domhnall was certainly a much bigger deal than, for example, Ridley was. That's not opinion, just a fact based upon their work history.

Gleeson had starred/co-starred in major motion pictures (with many more slated to come in 2014/15), whereas Ridley had largely done (if I remember correctly) some commercials and television work. I believe Daisy had the least amount of credited roles than anyone else announced that day. In fact, if you remember, when the cast was announced, most folks here (and in the press) were saying "Who is this largely unknown actress?"

This is not meant to bag on Ridley in any way at all. Rather it is only to point out that If she had the cache to lead a trilogy, then by definition, Gleeson (and Boyega, Issac, Driver, Christie, Lupita, etc.) absolutely did, as well.
