I guess it was unlocked because they are making more movies now. However this thread is ten years old and I don't think Disney will even think about making movies in the era in which Exar Kun was a part of for at least another ten years.

    darklordoftech: That was me.
    @Dante1102: Because I'm a secret agent of a movie-tycoon, doing some pre-search in fan-credibility of such a movie - money doesn't matter --- Dream over [face_sigh]

Second thought: Exar Kun's ghost has recovered from Luke's blows and now is spooking around, re-awakening old closed threads in The Jedi Council's forums.

The naked truth is: I'm actually into EK, looking for information about him here and there and I felt the desire to answer to some of the postings here:

Well, the action-figures will surely come when the movie is announced - and his lightsaber at walmart = Cross-marketing.

A movie about one of the greatest Sith Lords like Exar Kun would be absolutely great. Antonia Banderas or Adrian Paul are surely a good choice. As long as it is not Gert Fröbe.

This movie is surely neither wasted money nor wasted energy because:

    1. Exar Kun invented the double-bladed lightsaber, it could be a perfect prequel to the Darth-Maul-movie, which is sometimes mentioned, planned, being quiet about. Both films would support each other. For Maul re-discovered Kun’s martial art and weapon.

    2. Yes, there can be a “princess”. Didn’t Darth Plagueis the Wise mentioned the Nautolan Sith-minion Dossa who became an aide to Exar Kun after some training with him which developed her natural force-sensibility like red force-lightning? (KOTOR, 33, Vindication, Pt. 2. To make her a lover of Exar Kun would be an absolutely cute idea, not only for the Nautolan-Fans here ;) She died shortly before or at the same time as Exar Kun’s ordeal at Yavin IV 3996 BYC took place.

    3. Never underestimate the passion and flexibility of the fans! When Star Wars OT started in 1977 a yellow-scrolling text at the beginning was enough to inflame the attention of many watchers without that galaxy far far away ever known since. So after OT, PT and ST there will be not much explaining text needed anymore J

    4. Not to forget the nice old-fashioned costumes. Well, the Massassis on Yavin IV could be some challenge. But short people in red-black-tattoed fat-suites would really seal it.

    5. Also a bait for the Jedi-Fans: The interwoven story of Ulic Qel-Droma, his fall from the Jedi-Order, leaving Nomi Sunrider, then his redemption and being stripped off his force-connection is a great gamut about what a Jedi may undergo and become – and finally come back to the light.

Fazit: When enough people do care - such a movie surely can happen - and the Lego-action-figures too.

    Have a nice weekend :)

Looks like Mythra gave up on Star Wars long before the reboot.

I do like Exar's confidence. He didn't feel a need to use a "Darth" name or a mask or a hood. He was proud of his real name and face.

... not to forget: He didn't change the color of his lightsaber. Nor did he treat his scar on the cheek, inflicted upon him by that Cathar-padawan, with bacta to make it vanish. He was just - his proud self.[IMG]

And I think such a movie could show that different concept of a Sith. As it could show that the ancient Jedi did live a different life-style than the Jedi in the PT. Look! There was the Bindo-theory allowing relationships and marriage - see Barrison/Krynda Ulic/Nomi later the Sith-couple Ulic/Aleema. And I guess the Sith-Brotherhood of Exar Kun wasn't that pleasure-hostile either.

Oh that could be nurturing a whole trilogy!

As long as I'm fantasizing, I'll go with TOTJ as a TV show, with a season for each miniseries. Do Golden Age and FSE as a flashback side project, a la Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, before returning to Redemption. Then skip forward again into the KOTOR comics, and conclude with a theatrical trilogy for KOTOR 1, 2, and 3 [sic].

I think that for a TOTJ adaptation, chronological order would work better than publication order. The publication order was a product of when the authors developed the concepts, not a product of what the best way to present the story is.

Spartakun, what a nice idea :) For the mini-series I could also live with a cartoon-like animation like in The Clone Wars,

(please not like in Rebels - Ezra Kun hair - grrrr! Never-ever! Please do his hair Elsa Kun-chiseled in "Frozen" 2012 of course in black ...
BTW: Frozen ... It never rains in Arkania, right? It snows only in Exar Kuns's homeworld.[IMG] )

But for the theatrical trilogy of course - Real actors - with a starting scene when the archeologists are opening Exar Kun's temple and his force-ghost comes out telling the story.

I'd also much rather see the backstory that was implied before Veitch left than see Golden Age of the Sith and Fall Of the Sith Empire. Sadow should have pure Sith blood and be in rebellion against the Dark Lords, Kun and Ulic should be marked by the Dark Lord from the Sith Holocaust, etc.

Exar Kun was in the opening credits of the final episode of The X-Files... and what TV show is coming back this season, the same time that Star Wars is returning? Coincidence??

    I don't know a show called X-files. That's indeed mysterious.

It's possible you were taken to a secret Air Force facility codenamed Dreamland after witnessing a so-called "black triangle" and had those memories removed via advanced hypnosis techniques developed as part of the CIA MK-ULTRA program through the knowledge of Nazi scientists brought over by Operation Paperclip due to the manipulation of a Syndicate that operates behind the scenes of the US intelligence community in concert with alien "colonists".

    Hi SB,

I prefere black triangle to bermuda triangle :D When this is true then the CIA shall finance that movie. And equip Exar Kun with some discreetly placed sophisticated equipment products.

Point. As a history buff, I enjoy stories where we go backward and experience the origins of a setting we're familiar with*, but I realize that's not how to structure a TV show, outside of one or two flashback episodes. (Spartacus only did it because the lead actor fell ill and they were stalling for time in hopes he would recover.)

*This raises the obvious chicken-and-egg question of my love for Star Wars itself, but it might also be due to reading the Chronicles of Narnia in publication order at an even younger age.

Be interesting what kind of ratings x-files will have to get to get a full season order. As of now it only has a six episode order. Back in its hey day x-files was pretty unique. Now virtually every channel has a show like that.

This is the first appearance to my knowledge of a double bladed lightsaber. Note the size of the handle. When TPM came along the prop was made for Maul and Ray Park said he could not get proper leverage so it should be longer. The complied and park said he was quite happy with this little donation to the SW universe.

I already knew, that was why I posted it.

Chris Carter, the creator of the X-Files, was a big Star Wars EU fan. He's the one who put the Exar Kun reference into the intro, and it's also why he chose KJA to write tie-in X-Files books and comics.

There's no way it's going to be anything more than a miniseries, particularly because Duchovny and especially Anderson have other things they're doing now, which is why it's only six episodes. I know Duchovny at least said he had no interest in doing more than a miniseries.

They should start to unlock and bump the "Vader vs Exar Kun" threads from the late 90s if those still exist. I miss them.

Exar Kun is overrated as a duelist. He couldn't beat Darth Caedus or other Sith Lords. I doubt he could defeat Darth Tyranus. But he was one hell of a nightmare for the Jedi Order. He's interesting because he is an illustration of a Jedi Knight who craved the wrong things. He's an example arrogance and ambition. His Niman was good, but he used it more for its aggressive aspects. But there are other Sith Lords who are overrated as fighters besides Kun. Darth Bane, for example, was a brilliant person. But he wasn't involved in that many serious duels. Lord Hoth could have beaten him, even though Hoth wasn't as powerful as Bane. He was in the same league and he could beat him. (Bane was, after all, bested by Darth Zannah, though this was partly due to the circumstances of the duel. Yet she definitely had the skill to accomplish it.)

Anyhow, I love the stories Exar Kun is in. I love Nomi Sunrider. Also, Ulic Qel-Droma is an example of a good character. He goes from good, to bad, to jaded and broken. Furthermore, Kun's old master, Vodo Siosk Baas, is great. He may be more of a martial artist than a Force-wielder, but he had some great lines.

Would you agree that in preparation of such a SW-Exar Kun movie, a crossover animatic cartoon with "The Simpsons" would be a good way-paver?

Like: Exar Kun abducts Homer to get behind the secrets of nuclear technology and only Bart can save his dad, while witty Lisa is denying Exar Kun access to Sith-holocrons at the subterran library of Ossus, which would otherwise be vital to enhance Exar Kun's knowledge and powers. Just a bit like that crossover between Phineas and Ferb and ANH?

Veitch created a questionnaire which Lucas filled out for the making of "Tales of the Jedi", so am sure Lucas read the comics. I think with him, he liked designs and ideas, and if saw them already, he'd like to see new takes on everything to not be bored and for freshness and all that kinda thing. One good thing about storygroup is that everything is canon, and not different levels which can be overruled for various reasons or be alienated cause the left hand does know what the right hand is doing or one hand over rules the other.

Exar Kun was perhaps the finest swordsman that ever lived. In many ways he's like Anakin and in other ways, he's like Maul and thus a foreshadowing of them both. I often wonder if Maul, Anakin , Talzin, Yoda, Luke, Jinn and some others are essentially avatars of the Force and Lucas would select certain characters. I think Star Wars suffers with a lack of Exar Kun and Filoni or someone should find a way to include him and also Revan into canon.Even the scar they gave Anakin and now Ezra, is surely taken mainly from Kun's scarring. His use of a blue blade for evil, Anakin using a blue blade.
