ST Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) in Episode VII

Saw this on the Star Wars wiki a long time ago, back when I was actually convinced the Star Wars Saga ended with six films. If some sort of tragedy occured during Luke's time in charge, I wouldn't want him clad in this form when we see him on the big screen.

 

His hair is a little odd but the robes are fine.

 

From all ive found out its still only speculation on what outfit Luke will wear. Though the speculation does have some merit....and this is very similar to what i'm expecting.

Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens
*Black tunic as worn in Return of the Jedi
*Tan or beige Jedi surcoat that is made from a crepe material
*Dark brown or black trousers that will be tucked into...
*Tall black boots, plain and similar to ones worn in RotJ
*Black leather belt with a solid silver buckle and attachments for Lightsabre
*Very Dark brown or even black cloak

 

Not all pure speculation. This is flashback Luke in TFA (from the second teaser), and he seems to be wearing either a black or dark brown hooded robe, with a white tunic underneath.

 

I think its obvious that this could be 10 or more years previous to the events of TFA, so there is likely to be some change to Luke's outfit. I think the climate of where he is in the 2nd teaser is likely to be different to the climate of Skellig.

Also I think Luke will wear a hooded cloak rather than the traditional sleeved Jedi robe, again harking back to RotJ whilst trying to blend in the traditions of the Jedi.

A tunic is typically sleeveless like a vest and is the thing missing (along with the sash and stole) from Luke on sail barge to Luke on DSII:

 

I'd agree that in the teaser he's definitely wearing something other than his RotJ tunic, I think it could be a turtle neck garment similar to the brown version that Obi-Wan and Owen Lars wore,

I agree. I think it would look good if the white sleeve we see from TFA is a white version of Luke's jumpsuit/long sleeve shirt from RotJ and he had a black tunic/vest (like the one from RotJ) over the white long sleeves. Maybe keep the black pants and boots like you suggested.

 

Doesn't it look more like an ordinary shirt? That is what I thought is was.

The instant I saw this shot in Teaser 2 the first time it was shown after the Celebration panel, I immediately thought of this:

Now every time I see the trailer or this particular shot that's what I instantly think of. Perhaps Luke NOW wouldn't weat that jacket, but a still-young Luke may would rock a similar look with a simple hooded cloak/cape over it.

 

Me as well, it's the first thing I thought of... that jacket. I still see it when I watch it.

While you opinion of The Dark Crystal appalls me, I can't deny I like this.

If Luke doesn't wear this hat, forget TFA!!! And this how he and Rey should get around the Skellig Michael planet while he trains her in the ways of the Force through song.

I really, really hope Luke isn't dressed like Obi-Wan in ANH, or PT-era Jedi.

 

I really like his costume in the teaser. The white shirt with black cloak is a nice touch that could symbolize the balance Luke has achieved.

Whatever Luke's costume ends up looking like, please. No turtlenecks.

Funny you mention that yellow jacket Luke had though, I think it was definitely inspiration for Finns look.

Personally I'm betting on this unused Luke concept from ROTJ....this or white sleeved under shirt with the black/brown vest thingy over the top like he wears on the sail barge.
