LOL, I've been subbed to Boogie/Francis for a while, always good for a laugh. Anyway, what did I miss? Seems to be some sort of meltdown around here

 

- Shot of MVS looking disturbed. --Sure.

- Finn: “We were on a mission to retrieve an important artifact…” --yeah, he would totally say that.

- Hux: “Once again, we shall bring law and order back to the Galaxy.” --this is a great line, and adheres to practices outlined in the book "Avoiding Redundant Sentence Structure In Dialogue And How To Avoid It"

- Shot of some sort of huge beam weapon firing from the snowy planet. --this guy's pathetic

- Shot of a Star imploding. --riiiiiiiight...

I think they will release the Trailer Friday, as a surprise, attached to Bridge of Spies. Then they will release the Trailer on the internet Monday. That makes more sense to me.

Also it's not like they are just going to show it on MNF and that's it. It's going to be dropped online at the same time. It's just making it's broadcast premiere on MNF which is again a smart choice since 1. Disney owns ESPN. 2. MNF gets good ratings.

The other choice would be to premiere on DWTS. I don't see a Star Wars trailer going on during DWTS except to show soccer moms what their kids will want to see in two months.

There is no reason for this thread to be moving as fast as it is. Spamming gifs and memes and quoting those gifs and memes with more gifs and memes.
I come here to see if there is any new information about the film and it's hard to read through 30 pages of mostly unnecessary complaints, complaints about those complaints (like this), circular and usually off-topic subjects, in-fighting, etc.

So I'm making a possibly hopeless request as a reader, knowing I have no authority or influence: if you don't have actual information or a useful comment on the news, but only have jokey gifs or memes or panic or anger, maybe you don't have to post it. And yeah I know I'm guilty of this too. It's just... we're collectively approaching rock bottom in terms of concrete content in this thread.

I said "most americans," not "highest share of tv-watching market on Monday evenings."

But it's no big deal, I was just being silly. I know that the NFL is hugely popular in America. And I'd be lying if I said I wasn't overjoyed when I started hearing the first of many groups of prognosticators prognosticating that popularity and ubiquity of the NFL will begin to decline sooner rather than later.

The trailer isn't "attached" to anything this weekend. Theaters won't even receive the KDM from Disney to unlock the encrypted drive until Monday.

 

Agreed. It'd be nice to clear all the clutter and see how many pages are left 10-15 maybe of actual sourced information.

 

Hard to believe there isn't some high school kid working at one of the theater's that can't get around that encryption. Cmon managers ask your employees if they can hook it up.

 

If the trailer were out, the trailer review thread would be moving so fast with trailer review commentary that you wouldn't be able to keep up. Now the thread is moving rapidly with lack of information commentary, and that seems acceptable. In the absence of news, wanting news becomes the most pressing of all possible issues.

 

There is really no other things I think is worthy looking for at this point, other than see if the announcement is posted on StarWars.com, Star Wars on Facebook and Twitter.

 

This is a pretty smart move by Disney and the NFL. They can target two demographics here. Let me explain...

A vast segment of the people that will be watching MNF because they watch football may not know there is a new Star Wars movie coming out. Oh, they have no doubt seen stuff here and there, and it is in the back of their mind that SOMETHING Star Wars is going on, maybe a big Game release or TV show or something. Then they get hit with the trailer after the announcers talking it up all night. Maybe they will catch some "jocks" who now want to see this movie. MNF is watched all over the world every week. They get a built in international audience.

Now, on the other side of the coin, many... well, let's just say it: nerds... who have no Interest in football will be watching, and if they don't say exactly WHEN the trailer airs, they will be watching most of the game, afraid to look away, because in football, a clock stoppage and commercial break can happen ANY time. Maybe they actually watch a game for the first time. Maybe they like it. Maybe they become regular watchers. Yes, you can combine "nerd" with "jock". I have been both a football fan and Star Wars fan my whole life.

So... in short, by releasing the trailer first during Monday night football, maybe some of the jocks embrace the inner nerd, maybe some nerds embrace the inner jock. We all live together in peace!
