For those complaining about the X-Wing dog fight scene. Keep in mind that there is a big difference in detail requirement for moving vs still shot.

When that moving shot is stopped, ya it may look a little lacking in detail or CGIish. But while watching it in motion it's not noticeable at all.

Well for whatever it's worth I wasn't mocking you, and I don't know what situation/comment you've made that might be mocked--could you perchance refresh my memory? Because maybe I want to mock you and just don't know it yet.

Yes, the surface is too smooth and where it should be shiny and emit a glare there's just a smooth and dull bitmap-type skin. Furthermore, the surfaces of those X-wings should be scratched and beat up and have some carbon scoring here and there. And some dirt/dust. Perhaps we're not "there" yet in terms of CGI/SFX technology--though I kind of doubt it.

Oh hey, Star Wars is certainly not appreciated for its adherence to the laws of physics and, well, science stuff, but you know what would be badass and realistic? If the ships (both X-wings and TIE fighters) would occasionally streak contrails through the sky--perhaps at higher altitudes.

Whoa, just thought of something else...I wonder if any of them will break the sound barrier and create sonic booms and the air pressure/vapor cones...

BTW, anyone else starting to see Poe Dameron as someone who may join the dark side? I know there were rumors before. But that scene where he touches Finn on the shoulder, it looks like Finn was puzzled or discouraged by the feeling/vibe he got from Poe.

Yes. Billy Dee confirmed some time ago that he would not be in TFA but that the door was open for later in the sequels.

 

I believe Kasdan said the same as well.

I doubt Poe is force-sensitive. He could join the "bad side", but that doesn't mean he's on the "Dark Side". I'd say that term is specific to force-users only.

 

I think that's actually two shots combined because, as it stands, it doesn't really make sense as it gives us both an internal and external view of hyperspace (as seen in the previous films).

 

Agreed. Been saying that to friends since the trailer came out.

The shot of the X-Wings in the second teaser looked incredibly real to me, so maybe they're still finalizing all the shots.

The first 15-20 times you came here and shouted that, for some untold reason, you think they should release more footages with dialogs, you made your point. I think Helen Keller might have eventually figured out the gist of your rantings.

Why not take part in the discussion here? There are a lot of interesting topics being thrown around, tell us your take on some of these ideas. Otherwise, Jedi Dragon D is just a guy who comes in here almost every day to remind us at the top of his voice that he believes more footages--ONES WITH MORE DIALOGS--should be released and that it will underperform at the boxoffice if Lucasfilm and Disney continue in their present, secretive manner.

I just watched this last night and then I popped on the 1997 set with the Original versions of the films from
the Laser Disc Rip and It looked the same....

 

I'm envisioning a video for the song in super-duper slow-mo (kind of like the Pixies' Velouria video) of all the footage of Kylo Ren, with slow fades between each scene. The song is pretty melodramatic and the slow-mo would really lend itself to the "feel" and be damn hilarious.

I nominate you to put it together.

I personally feel it's kind of unfair to scrutinize a still frame from a CG aerial battle. It's not meant to hold up to freeze frame scrutiny, it's a single frame in a moving sequence of images. As it stands I think the aerial dogfights in the trailer looked fantastic.
