Full Series Should Mace Windu return?

Someone on deviantart had an idea of how Mace Windu could be IF they do bring him back as a Jedi survivor impressive huh?

the only powerful good guy Force users around should be Yoda and Obi-Wan....anyone else should be at the Ahsoka, Kanan, Ezra level...Former Padawans and people they may be training.

I agree that there is the Luke precedent for Mace Windu surviving. But if he did, I would think it better for him to appear in Episode 8 and 9. He is a Jedi of action and it would make sense that he would act if he had been alive or have made contact with Yoda.

One way to get round this would be to have him fall from Palpatine's window (with Palpatine thinking him to be surely dead), but him to just be able to guide himself with his remaining depleting energy to a repulsor craft which glides him to some factory works nearby. He is unconscious and will die without medical attention (as Luke received in ESB). He is found by those close to the Jedi Order or sympathizers. They see the attack on the Jedi Temple (as Padme does), they see the news and smuggle him off world. They treat his wounds whilst he is unconscious and use a prototype process just flown in from some outer rim world called carbon freezing to smuggle the body through checkpoints undetected. They load it onto a ship.

In the process of flying away from Coruscant and jumping through hyperspace to what they believe are other surviving Jedi through receiving a beacon call, they are ambushed by Imperials (who were using the beacon as a trap for surviving Jedi). The ship is about to be overwhelmed and destroyed. The sympathizers fight to the end, but jettison the frozen Windu in an escape pod. It falls to a remote world inhabited by only natives who do not travel through space.

The frozen Windu is found decades later by the new Jedi Order and unfrozen to join them in Episode 8.

Just an idea. Please no spoilers for Episode 7, NOT EVEN THE TRAILERS!!!

I think though Windu would be better in that than in Rebels, given he is more a Jedi of action, than contemplating.

 

Even though it might be cool to see Mace back kicking butt, I think that having him alive would seem kind of cliched. I mean, we already have so many characters in Star Wars who supposedly were dead but it turned out they weren't really that it would feel like we'd be beating a very dead horse and would make people not take the death of any character seriously.

 

By Rebels most Jedi should be dead and the ones left are Padawans and a few scattered Knights and of course two certain masters. But that's it.

 

I don't think he should be brought back. I know people like to believe if you don't see something clearly stated it leaves room for the possibility, but at some point some things just need to be accepted at face value and don't have to be expanded on. From a story perceptive, I don't think the pay off of bringing him back would be worth it.

Of course there are a lot of story possibilities that would be possible if you bring him back, but do you really need it to be Mace to tell any of those stories? It seems logical that his arc would end with the confrontation with Sidious and final resolution with Anakin.

The only real way I could see it working is if it happens very shortly after Episode III, and Vader encounters an injured Mace. You could maybe try to do a character arc with Mace being conflicted about having to use the darkside as the only way to try and defeat Vader, but to do that you'd kind of have to alter a big part of the character's resolve. Basically, by trying to justify the reason to bring him back, you grow dangerously close to heading into fan fiction territory. I'm sure it's possible and could even be really interesting with the right creative team, but at the end of the day it just doesn't seem necessary.

If I had to choose, I'd much rather have a story about a younger Mace where we could learn something that adds to what we already know and allows us to see a new perceptive on the character and what makes him who he is.

 

No. Darth Maul is enough and his return was well planned out and makes sense. Mace Windu no. It would make Anakins fall go the dark side less. We don't want this to become the Marvel Cinematic Universe with every character coming back from death.

 

If they can get Samuel L Jackson to swing by the recording studios, then I'd tolerate it.

 

Lets bring back Jango, Count Dooku, Zam Wessel, Padme, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, Nute Gunray, Biggs, Porkins, Tarkin, Ozzel, and the rest while were at it. Makes perfect sense...
