Is it just me, or there does seem to be a strong similarity between Snoke and the Grand Inquisitor?

I like it. I prefer the undead look more than if they had tried to do something too alien or even snake like. I didn't think he'd end up looking as humanoid. If he is injured and vulnerable while being around 7 feet tall it would be an interesting contrast. I wonder what happened to him to be in such a condition. I also wonder what his motives are besides ruling the galaxy. I'm hoping he has a fairly different outlook about the force just for something different.

Someone punched the Inquisitor in the face pretty hard.

Oh yeah and if you read the text it says that the robes are totally intended to be white.

Ugh I really don't want him to be Snoke. He is such a meaningless character.

Interesting. I don't see a similarity between Snoke and the Grand Inquisitor to be honest. It's similiar to Palpatine, but overall, I like it.

I'm slightly disappointed in the design, only because zombies and ghouls are absolutely everywhere in today's entertainment pop culture. For example, I was just playing Fallout 4, and Snoke would not look out of place in that game as one of the random enemies you kill.

Also, this fuels the fire that the ST is simply a repackaged OT. The Emperor was a decrepit old zombie, and now Snoke is as well. If it's not an outright reboot of the OT, they're clearly playing it safe and sticking to the tried and true designs, both literally and thematically.

Personally, I would have preferred it if Snoke was the one element of TFA that had a completely out-to-lunch design, since the rest of the film is so reminiscent of the OT (specifically ANH). I would have kept him humanoid, but perhaps made him the opposite of a weak looking fragile old man, since that was already done. If he's the leader of the KoR, then why not make him some kind of all powerful looking alien king with a crown or something? Kind of like a sci-fi Sauron or something.

Now, the scenes with Snoke (by their very nature) need to be similar to the ones with the Emperor, just because the characters are so physically similar. He has to be sitting on thrones, looking out windows into space, and yada, yada yada, because he's a fragile old man zombie. He won't be getting into the fray and getting down and dirty because he physically can't. Like the Emperor, you need to confront him in a throne room or command center, which is a bit boring because it was done before.

If that is Snoke, then I'm gonna call him Darth Jason in Bling suit :D All he needs is a hockey mask.

No. This is the right sided image mirrored to show what he looked like before the injuries.

Just looks to be the undamaged portion of his face mirrored on the other side.

Edit: Which Chewies_bandolier just beat me to!

I prefer the right. I like the wrinkles/scars from using the dark side of the force. Similar to how Palpy's face was worn and twisted.

Really though, either design works. I love both.

THIS is what happens only a few HOURS after I decide to put my hat in the ring for "Snoke = Plagueis". Of course.... :_|

So, of course I'm feeling pretty "nervous" right now, LoL. I reckon it would be a pretty long shot to have THIS Snoke still be Plagueis and yet change his appearance (from the "traditional" one of a Muun).

Oh well...I do like this look. Is he...."human"? Or some kind of E.U. alien species? And why is he deformed? War injury? Or bodily corruption due to his use of the Dark Side of the Force? Like Palpatine...oh no wait, that was "apparently" due to electricity. I think. Just another thing Lucas never properly explained (especially since Luke copped some Force electricity too and was never deformed).

agree.i like the contrast...used to be a handsome humanoid, disfigured by the dark side or something else....the sculpture is just a disfigured old man but i'll wait till i see the final design in the theater. I like that he's wearing white, can't wait to see how he dresses and stands......now im wondering, he seems more "human", less "alien" than i thought he would...what species is he? just a typical human like palpatine? they say he's really tall. he might be some sort of humanoid alien, like twileks and chiss.

Hell of a lot of similarities there. And the Inquistor theme sounds like what Snoke's supposed to sound like:

You know what, I really hope that the injuries are as a result of the battles or whatever that he has had as a result of using the dark side to fuel his aggression (sort of like "roid rage .. force rage?". I appreciate that deformity and unattractiveness are associated with evil and darkness and light /purity etc is associated with beauty but I think that it is so cliched to make "evil make the person ugly and deformed" by itself.

The Grand Inquisitor wasn't 7 feet tall though, IIRC.

I do like the connection to Rebels though.

Tbh. until now I thought it could have been Plaguies in TFA just as much as a completely unknown character. Both could work well I always thought.

But man I've seen some nasty comments in this thread, and that I don't like. People should just agree to disagree instead of stomping on other people's idea's.

looks good and to be honest I don't consider the animated shows cannon. I know it IS cannon by the higher powers that be but to me they aren't. The idea of tv shows with Star Wars is a convoluted mess. They use up all the ideas so the well is dry and then when the more serious important movies come out they've already done every idea.

Case and point, the interrogation scene using the force was already done on Rebels ( and probably because they knew about TFA before hand) effectively making the movie version less unique or special. Using weird lightsaber designs, introducing new lightsaber colors like white...

It just ruins the uniqueness of seeing it first within the main movies.

Just my thought, I stay away from that stuff. I've always treated the movies as the only official sources for me.

Does anyone else think the one on the left is perhaps just a little bit too big a rip off of Two Face or am I being silly?

Other than that they look like good first ideas to work from. Both could make a solid first impression on me with the right lighting, music, dialogue etc.
