I don't recall MSW ever saying Luke would be evil. They were wrong about the lightsaber in space, however. That might be their only misstep.

 

They did run a Darth Luke scoop but once the production info came along they were pretty much batting at 90% if not higher.

 

So out of all the positive comments you focus in on the one marginal comment?

I remember it being posted on his website weather he said it or someone else at his website but it was on the MSW website. and we cant be 100% sure that Han dies, that was not confirmed in the trailers?

 

Realistically, who cares? I mean spoilers mean absolutely nothing at this point considering the film will be available to the public shortly.

In the end, all that matters is whether this is a GOOD Star Wars film....whether a spoiler site got anything "right or "wrong" is not important. LOL.

Agreed. There isn't a single move in history that is loved by everyone. Even movies like Toy Story and The Godfather (two movies that have a perfect score on RT) are not universally liked. Therefore there are going to be a ton of people who aren't going to like TFA particularly since there is a group who never wanted the movie to be made in the first place. They see Episodes 1-6 as the series. Nothing less, nothing more. And everyone is entitled to their opinion. So just get used to people bashing it even if the overwhelming voice is positive.

As for the ending, I heard everything and anything. [spoilers] From it's the "Here is a preview to Episode VIII" where Rey simply gives back Luke is old lightsaber back to the scene is several minutes long where Luke explains Rey not is her father but also why things transpired as they have (but not everything). I also heard in between where it is never said outloud that Luke is her father but everyone knows it [spoilers].

At first I didn't want to know but I kind now do to brace myself for whatever happens LOL!

It's like the quote from The Dark Knight. If we are shown a truckload of positive comments/reviews, nobody panics. If we get tons of people saying its the best star wars film since Empire, nobody cares. But one...measly little reddit/tweet says they didn't like it, then EVERYBODY LOSES THEIR MINDS!

 

The general gist is that the movie is exciting and "fun" but the story is not so great.

From all the bad things that happen (Han dies, Leia left with NO ONE, Finn in a coma, and Rey still has no family) one has to wonder what the hell is going on if there's no balance to all of that. Yipee-they blow up another death star!

 

Only interesting in the sense of what it says about the person. I find it interesting how one can be a self fulfilling prophecy in terms of setting oneself up for disappointment.

On a side note, I am a psychotherapist/professor of counseling and psychology by trade so the way people respond to things intrigues me at times. LOL.

Hate to point out the obvious, but this is a trilogy. The first movie is not going to answer everything.

 

still fun to see all the spoiler sites backtrack and stumble over there words trying to explain them selves when they get it wrong and then they disappear into obscurity
@jedijax the general gist from last night is Abrams, Cast, and crew killed it with this film and this is the best since the Originals !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Finally someone with their head on straight. Its what Ive been saying all along.

However, if I were interested in peoples opinions it would be here on this forum...not reddit and other "critics"

Agreed. Part of what makes ANH wonderful is that it makes you ask a bunch of questions which do not have answers. "What are the Clone Wars?" "Why does Vader wear that suit?" "Who was Anakin Skywalker?" "What happens to Luke now?" and many more. Sounds like this film does the same thing, but folks are so used to modern blockbusters which tend to over explain everything and leave no room for any speculation -- and people are generally a heck of a lot more impatient these days.

Also remember there are going to be critics who will be contrarian for the sake of being contrarian. These are the folks who'd decry the Wizard of Oz as "silly" if it were released today...not everything is going to be shaky camera heroin drama.

 

Leoluca, way too many sources have said that Han dies. I'd bet my house that he dies by Ben's sword.

MSW are holding their heads high, they've been phenomenal in spoiling this film.

 

And I don't expect to answer everything nor would I. We didn't get all the answers in ANH obviously.

But one of the problems with sequels (or movies in general) nowadays is that come off as a coming attraction for the next movie. Avengers 2 was a perfect example of that. I am really focused and hoping that TFA has a story arc of itself. Sure it can hint at a sequel and set something up for it (much like ANH did) but there should be a complete story arc. That is my concern and why I am not sure how Cameo Luke will work. I am not saying it cannot. After all it's about context but just reading it on page, it's hard to imagine the ending playing out like "Coming Soon: Episode VIII - Luke Returns!".

Yes but ANH also had a complete story arc that had Lucas never made a sequel (suppose it was a total flop) still left with a gratifying ending. It's I have not seen TFA, I have no idea how the reported ending plays out except I find it hard not to see that as a preview for Episode VIII. Again I will wait to see it on screen to make final judgement. Besides until I see it, I won't know for sure LOL!

 

Can you imagine if if the Empire Strikes Back was leaked in todays world and people read about the emperor like

"Really disappointed, only appeared briefly for a hologram message and looks like a really old man with an infected eye."

My god the disappointment here would be crushing. Especially considering it was the half way mark of the trilogy.

 

Good thing it's only a year and a half away and not three!

Unless if Disney delays it because December has worked so well for this one.

 

But this is the first movie of a trilogy. My problem with what I have read is that it is a downer at every corner. The only upside is that they accomplish the same thing they accomplished in ANH. A lot of the movie sounds like a mix of shock value and rehash. I hope I am wrong but if it is what has been described, I don't see it as anything else.

I will immediately eat crow if I am wrong and end up pleasantly surprised. I really want to be. I feel like I have to be. I keep telling myself it's not all that has been described. If it is, then anything goes unfortunately.

What about this ROTJ spoiler? The Empire with is taken down by the help of a small group of 3 foot teddy bears with sling shots...

For what it's worth, I did notice that Patton Oswalt tweeted that JJ nailed it. I really only mention this as I do recall he was extremely critical of TPM and the PT.

 

You can't really trust people whose livelihood depends on Disney and friends to give this movie a fair review.

 

Mate really if you feel pessimistic about the movie then i can't change your mind with posts over the internet. I however think the movie looks and sounds great and all i can say to you is for you to relax a bit and watch the movie for yourself and make up your on mind on it.

And remember in the end this really is only a movie.
