    Hi,

I like the current selection of character emojis here but is it alright to request some more? Specifically I was thinking some popular characters like Darth Maul, Thrawn (now that he's canon) or Dooku?

    Thanks

We only add smileys that are in the official list of Star Wars emoticons and, even then, we have to resize them and alter them one by one. Plus uploading them to the server is not trivial as we don't have direct access to that part of the site. Also, I had something like fifteen new emojis ready to go but they were sadly lost in a recent hard drive crash.

To sum it up: yes, there will eventually be a new load of Star Wars icons, but that's not going to be happening any soon.

Some more flags would be sweet, like Canada's. I would love a Jar Jar Binks emoticon otherwise these are awesome.

Sorry JTS for the wildly nerd-like question, but do the emoticons use java script for their functionality?

    Not that I know! It's a hard-wired function, not a replacement script.

I've used JS to replace text by emoticons before. It's kind of ugly and hacky.

Are we going to get more emoticons based of Rogue One, now?

The drop-down box where you can click an emoticon to insert it into the text box does use JavaScript. Parsing the text form of the emoticon is done by the XenForo parser. That parser runs on the server and is written in whatever language the server uses (probably PHP).
