My guess at this point is that Ach-To is this trilogy's Dagobah with Luke as Yoda and Rey as Luke. As in Empire, the next film will feature Luke training Rey.

Where it will be different, just a guess, is that Rey will try to convince Luke to come with her, and he'll be resistant for whatever reason. Then in the 3rd film, he'll show up at a critical moment to sacrifice himself to save Rey from Kylo. Rey will then defeat Kylo, but she'll be outmatched by Snoke who will use lighting on her. (At one point, Lucas was going to have Yoda's Force Ghost block Palpatine's lighting at the end of ROTJ. I think the idea was that Yoda could only be seen when contacted with the lightning.) What if Snoke uses lightning, but we see Luke's ghostly image appear amid the lightning bolts to block it?

Far fetched perhaps...but I think the first sentence of this post is still plausible.

My hypothesis about Ach-To, based purely on the location used, is that this may in fact be the home world of the Jedi. It may predate interstellar civilisation. The Way Of The Jedi is basically a religion (albeit one with tangible effects) so it could be that the religion of the Jedi came from this world and the people who lived there. This would have been long before lightsabers and space travel, before the midichlorian discovery, before any kind of modern science. You have a group of priests or monks who discover this mysterious power, a life force during that world's iron age or medieval age equivalent. Because of this great power they're discovering, they isolate themselves on a series of islands out in the ocean, away from civilisation and build a temple to honour the life force and to meditate on its mysteries.

At some point, Ach-To makes contact with civilisations from other worlds and the Jedi go out into the galaxy to spread their knowledge of the mysterious life force but they discover that many cultures across the galaxy have had similar encounters and interactions with it. This ultimately leads to people from all over the galaxy gathering on Tython, which results in the Jedi Ways taking in new ideas and expanding. Because of these various ideas, one faction, called the Sith, break away from the expanding Jedi religion and travel to Moraband, where they can explore the deeper and darker mysteries of what has become known as the Force. When the Sith become corrupted by the Dark Side, many Jedi pledge themselves to the protection of the First Republic (I think there were two republics, a first Republic, smaller, based around Coruscant and Corellia, and following the defeat of the Sith, the larger Galactic Republic), becoming Jedi Knights.

I don't know about the crystals (I liked their use in the original EU and comics, but now just reminds me of the Indy IV), but I like the idea that Luke's mistake in Empire had greater repercussions than losing his hand.

Maybe in Episode 8 Luke and Rey can sit on a couple of couches and talk about everything that's happened in the past thirty years. Or maybe this Jedi temple has a long hallway they can walk down and give you all the ham-fisted exposition you can handle.

Yeah its not... and that is lame. I'm actually kind of amazed that the rest of the movie was so good that I'm willing to overlook how incredibly stupid starkiller base was

Let me get this straight...those planets orbiting Hosnian weren't moons but planets, too?

didn't know where to put this but has it been confirmed that Luke's Jedi Academy was the Old Jedi Temple of Eadit? Luke vowed he would return there and 3p0 confirmed he did in fact return there after ROTJ

Apparently a rip in hyperspace allowed all star systems to witness the Republic's destruction.
    According to Pablo Hidalgo.

Wish they exposited that bit and included it in Hux's speech, just need a mention. woulda been enough.

Hmmm, if that's the case, maybe it's indeed the First Jedi Temple? And something that we will see more of in the coming Episode 8!

I was talking about the one that gets destroyed by the Knights Of Ren in the flashback Devaron was a Jungle planet while Ach-To looks more rocky and hilly and it may be a water world

There's two main things I can see happen with the Jedi Temple:

    1. Luke is trying to learn more about the history. The origins. Their mission. How did they operate. How did they train? Maybe he learned about how the Jedi were operating before they fell in ROTS, and didn't agree with it and that's why it fell. Or maybe after losing his students to Kylo Ren, he needs guidance again. What was the "right" way to do it? Maybe, since, he's became a Jedi at such an older age, he has the same problem as his father: attachments. And he's looking for a way to still be a Jedi with attachments, were they really "emotionless?" He's looking for answers.

    2. In the little canon novels we now have, one of the most vital things mentioned in them is how Sidious said he (this is not word for word) "felt the source of the dark side being on the outskirts of the galaxy, and constantly sent people to try and find it.." This source could either be a place, a person (Snoke), or a mixture of both. I find it coincidental that this info was shared, and then we learned Luke was searching for the original Jedi temple. It sounds so parallel that it's like it's to combat that. What if he's trying to learn more about the light side of the force, because after seeing Snoke turn Ben, he realizes, that as far as the force, he is no match to Snoke or what Snoke is using. I truly believe that the mention of Sidious looking for the source is the biggest hint to how the Jedi Temple's role may play out.

As far as the mystery of it, I love it. Yes, I want to know more. But that's the feeling they're supposed to give. Where's the anticipation if everything is instantly given to you. I'm 100% sure novels & backstories of EVERY thing in TFA and the new trilogy will be extremely explored once the basic story is done. If they give too miuch info, we'll be able to piece too much together and prolly figure out major plot points in the future. Example: Halo, we ALL knew Cortana was going to go rampant in the new games because of how much info on "rampancy" was given in Halo 3 and the work around it. No element of surprise. But we'll be coming back to Ep 8 bc we WANT these answers, and not only that, we'll purchase whatever books/games/etc that explain these things in the future cause it NOW has our interest. THis is the moment of anticipation. Embrace it. We're sitting around theorizing on every possible thing and could be way off. Hell, the anticipation, theories, and speculation leading up to Metal Gear Solid V was damn near better experience than the game itself.

Cannot wait for the secrets to be revealed. I see this temple as a place of isolation and where Rey and Luke will train for their eventual dual with the Knights of Ten and maybe the ex Jedi teacher...Snoke.
