Also the word on the street is that Finn was always written to be the Love Interest.

 

He absolutely was. Obviously that isn't his entire character, he has his own story to be told, but it's a huge part of his role. There's a reason it's always John who's making the little Finn/Rey side comments during interviews ("Finn's a virgin, people, but you should see the way he looks at Rey, it's disgusting!") and not Daisy. It's a flip of the classic 'guy goes on a journey, meets a girl who falls in love with him, and he eventually falls in love with her.' This time, it's Rey who's doing her own thing, meets Finn, who falls in love with her, and we can expect she'll start to return his feelings in the next episode. But as I said, he's way more complex than just an LI. He's very much a co-lead--just, a romantic one. : )

 

The original casting call for SW's Thomas and Rachel, as they were known during the casting reads, was for two actors to go on a journey to distant worlds together with a hint of romance in the future.

 

Really? Are you talking about pre-casting? I heard Rey was original named "Kira", Kylo was named "Jedi Killer", and Finn wasnt cast with any ethnic in mind, Never heard he was written as an LI.

 

Yeah in the art character was meant to also be white and named Sam. Poe was supposed to be and old black man.

 

Ah, the old switcha'roo lol. Im going to guess once they decided to go with JB they made some big changes.

 

I believe John was the last person casted. Remember he has to read for 7 months and JJ, KK, and kasden all had to fight for him to be casted.

 

Oh dear lord!! They would make such awesome, adorable little mixed-race (possibly Skywalker) babies together.

 

Daisy's face in the first one when John has his arm around her is pretty cute in them first pic. In the second one she has a satisfied look on her face when she hugs John like she is having or had a blast.

 

I've seen them in many an interview/social setting, and they always play off of each other really well.

 

Wow, this is all new news to me . I guess they really felt he was the right person for the job, and rightfully so as I cant see anybody else as Finn.

I know it was posted awhile ago, but do you know who was the top 2nd to play Finn?

To be fair, I would have NO problems with Taron being in a SW film. He was great in Kingsman,

 

He is now in the running for young han solo.

 

I caaaaant. Stahp. If FinnRey doesn't happen I'm gonna be so mad. SOO much chemistry it's stupid. I feel like a little teenage girl. I don't even know why

Yikes. He does not look like a young Harrison Ford.

 

The kingsmen guy is awesome but him as Finn I cant see it, mainly cuz I've seen him be such a bad ass in that film.(not saying JB Finn aint badass)

also, aint he kinda short for a smuggler

 

Nothing against that guy since I've never seen him in anything, but his look screams Mickey Mouse Club to me. It's like a perfect visual for what I feared after Disney bought SW. Thankfully, Disney really kept their fingerprints off of TFA.

 

Go watch Kingsman or Legend. He's decidedly NOT that.

 

If he can suppress his accent he can play young Han Solo. Easily.

 

That's good. Yeah I have no idea. It's just his look that made me think it. My daughter loves those Disney Channel shows with attractive but generic teenagers and young adults. They tend to be, obviously, attractive in a cookie cutter way but bland and forgettable. Not much personality. I'm glad Disney wasn't pushing his someone like that.

 

Anthony Ingruber is probably the best choice for young Han Solo

Actually that he is, he has a safe very cookie cutter look, it took me a way to remember him when asked.
