i was reading the beginning of the thread ... it's really interesting.sometimes i can believe that there will be a sort-of romance, sometimes i can't see it at all.it boggles my mind.

anyway, she won't go to the dark side, she hates the man and i can't imagine anything really drawing her away from the people who she actively likes. let's face it, kylo ren is not a nice man. i love him to pieces but i wouldn't want him anywhere near me until he reforms or whatever. he's just too damn overbearing and greedy.

but i can see a force bond. and i can see them knowing what the other goes through and be haunted by that. and i would really quite like that.

 

I think it's more likely that they are siblings (10% shot at this point) then lovers.

 

it'd just be boring if they were siblings. and really unlikely. why would leia and han *forget* about their daughter?

 

Hey Obi Wan is not boring! I liked him on those short novels (for school kids) Jedi Apprentice series. He's not a overpowered hero, but a decent guy.

Welcome to the ship! I am so onboard with everything you've said. I will also check out the fanfic that you recommended.

Funny thing is that I've been toying with throwing my hat in the fanfic ring as well (I used to write creatively a lot and would complete NaNoWriMo every year in my pre-kid life), and I had the SAME idea as you re: the training cave/Kylo encounter. So, either great minds think alike, or our idea apparently isn't all that original.

 

Yeah, as I've wondered before, I wonder if we'll see more people pop into this thread/Reylo in general once TFA comes out on Blu-Ray and people start picking up on things that they didn't notice the first time/when they saw TFA in the theatre.

 

I work in tech. We're all very open about our Star Wars (and Star Trek, Dr. Who, and Marvel, etc.) love in my industry. I've actually been on the lookout for an appropriate Rey figurine to keep on my desk.

 

My husband and I spent a few days in Venice on our honeymoon. Gorgeous city!

 

My own husband does not understand the love that I have for Lost, Buffy, or the X-Files. I've given up on trying to watch any of those shows with him.

i now have a co-worker i can bother with star wars. but she's also a linguist, so... we are kindred spirits in many ways.

The only thing more boring than that would be if they were cousins.
I mean, I can totally see that there's a very, very strong case for Rey being Luke's daughter, but if they're doing the "hero is related to villain" thing again, "cousins" doesn't really have the same emotional weight. Compare:
- Luke, I'm your father
- Luke, I'm your uncle

I guess it could work if it was revealed that young Ben and Rey had some major emotional thing happen in the past, which is why I really liked the theory about him sparing her life and dropping her off on Jakku. It would also mean that the rest of the family think she's dead and Luke is not just being a terrible father letting his daughter scrape for a living on some crappy planet. But from what I gathered, Rey was already on Jakku when it all went pear-shaped at Luke's school so there's no connection between her being abandoned and the school massacre?

 

I've seen TFA three times on my own, and once with family. Much preferred the solo viewings. It's a pain in the neck seeing films with people who really don't want to be there and don't want to discuss the movie afterwards.

Someone should put together a "What We Know" thread about the timeline of events related to TFA, just to have all of the canon/facts in one place (and separated from all of the speculation).

My understanding is that Rey was left on Jakku ~15 years ago.
The slaughter at the Academy took place ~6 years ago.

I'd had it in my head for some reason that Ben actually went over to the darkside ~15 years ago (I can't seem to find anything to back that up, though), so for a while, I was thinking that Rey being abandoned and Ben turning/leaving the academy were somehow linked, with him coming back to destroy the academy a number of years later.

cousins has almost zero emotional weight but maybe that's because i'm not very close to mine...

but abandoning her purposefully somewhere, that's not what luke would do. that is all. until someone says this outright in a movie, i WILL NOT have it. and if it does happen, i'll have to abandon this fandom. brace yourselves!

 

Yes, and with the Kylo dropping her off theory it makes no sense because either Luke or Leia should have sensed her death or sensed she was still alive if she was related to them. Leia knew Han died right away.
They don't have to be related for Kylo to have spared her. I do think the vision of him stabbing someone is from the future. He is going to save her from someone.

 

I agree, is there a way to do a sticky or some topside post to track this? Would be helpful for people new to the thread. Things like, Pablo confirmed this here's the link, etc etc
I think Kylo went bad around age 15 but I don't know where I got that impression from.

 

Hmmmm...that sound like a good theory. Maybe he went to the Dark side because he thougt that she is dead... Maybe she was driven to the Jakku by Luke himself coz he felt the darkness in her like it was in young Annakin.. and that would explain Lukes shocked, scared face. I don't know but every my theory leads to Reylo again.

I just remembered Benicio del Toro will play a new villain in ep. VIII, or so the rumors say... We'll have a big bad villain, Snoke, a wannabe villain, Kylo and Benicio del Toro who, allegedly, will play a character strong in the Force too. I wonder how the hell are Luke and Rey going to cope with so much dark Force and I also wonder why would they need another villain for the movie

I am a longtime Star Wars fan but not fanatical about it at all. I have seen both trilogies and that is it. I was spoiled for TFA but the spoilers did not indicate ANY Reylo-ness. I figured they were related, it sounds like a re-do of the AU, blah blah. So much so that I saw TFA weeks after it opened. I did want to see it but was not rushing.

I see the movie and the Reylo, and am like whaaaaaaat? Do some Googling and find many who saw the same thing and it led me here.

I do really like Obi-Wan. I am not a fan of the PT but loved his sarcasm and his flinging of his capes. I just don't get why it would be so weird for him to have procreated but yet for Luke, people are like yeah okay.

In the AU, Luke had a child with Mara Jade who was dark side and an assassin and people seemed to be fine with it. Why the objections to Reylo?

 

Well... Mara was never so much evil as misguided, and had some sort of brainwashing thing going on. Ren on the other hand is expressly and deliberately going all out to be as evil as possible.
