So when I heard her say that Rian is going to be more "treekiah" (lol funny how she says it) with outgoing information, and saying it was fun, I was thinking omg maybe Rian is behind the liking reylo pics?? A girl can dream lol.

I don't think so, the stance is the same, the expressions are the same (well Obi wan and Ren are)..whats interesting is that if this was intentional....then it is suggesting the force bond between them, because at this moment they are swapping emotions, she is representing the hatred of the dark side, he is representing the compassion and light side.

One of the big reasons I believe the Force Bond could be real (other than the more concrete ones I discussed in my thesis) has to do with the fact that this is the perfect time to redefine exactly how parts of the Force work. From what I understand Force Bonds were everywhere in the EU. LucasFilm basically needs to incorporate them into the main canon now or risk losing one of the most interesting aspects of Force-Sensitivity.

 

Not fun....what shall we fight/debate about then?

I know you're not big on the Kenobi theory but, if she is a Kenobi..how poignant that Ren is giving her the same look her grandfather gave Vader all those years ago.

 

I personally don't think it is a coincidence, but not a big deal either. Lots of lightsaber battles have moments of lightsabers crossed. Their expressions are different. The top photo has been angled so that they seem to be in the same position. It's a stretch.

On the other hand, the similarities with the Mustafar duel are a lot more tangible. The moment when she extinguishes his lightsaber echoes a moment in that duel.
I don't think that means she is a Kenobi, but there is something there. Kylo has some moves similar to Anakin in that duel.

Im surprised at just how many people have Skywalker goggles...I just cant understand this. I guess the main fans who haunt forums and such are really just a minority in the overall scope of the audience but they would naturally make up a majority on discussion boards because they adore the franchise. They do not represent the average movie going public. Most people dont care who she is. I left the cinema not really caring who she is, I thought Kenobi though but wasnt like "oh my god my life hinges on it" lol

 

Its not angled, thats just a piece of official art which was made a long time ago, thats the original picture. Its like the Rey Ren is a copy of it

 

It's not really that I'm not big on the theory, it's that I can't see a logical way for Rey to have what I call a "positive" origin story without it greatly stalling her character development. Now, I think there's a good possibility we won't get the answer until Act Three of the last film, which be the best way to incorporate a "positive" origin. Rey would be able to develop as "Rey Nobody" and ultimately be given a highly symbolic and satisfying origin story. The Kenobi's would be brought back into the main storyline, and Rey's connection to Ren (which would be fully developed by that point) would be further deepened.

Anyway, I love the parallel. I think it's beautiful and part of me hopes Rey is a Kenobi.

I think people are overreacting to the whole Star Wars is about family line by KK. They think Star Wars is this huge family saga thing like Game of Thrones...which it isn't, if you just base it on the 6 movies. Family is a huge theme for sure, but it's not highly prevalent like in GOT. It's kind of like how people have this huge theory that Jon Snow is secretly a Targaryen, which would be awesome, because I'm a hardcore Targaryen loyalist lol. A twist like that makes sense in GOT, but not in SW. Rey being a Skywalker creates way too many plot holes and just a very messy story...but people would rather have that because Rey being a Skywalker is just way more important than anything else. I think also many have read the EU, which I think was filled with familial connections after ROTJ.
