He's badass from the comic books and EU. He's a pathetic man in the OT.

I disagree. I think the brilliance of Star Wars is that Vader is always pathetic on the inside and you have to be able to see it through the fake "badass" shell.

    Some people never see it.

Ah, for some reason, I resorted to my old simplistic analogy habits.

That's true. I think I correlated to when people talk about "Badass" from the EU and Badass from the movies. I just loosely mixed both aspects and made a confusing verdict. Which haphazardly messed up my response on what I was trying to say.

Vader is a man of power, fear and the embodiment fear itself. Constructed by everything of the past and his mistakes.

The "fear" comes from the mask. It is a shell to keep from revealing the truth of Vader.

The "pathetic" nature is when the mask is taken off. Inside isn't "physically" a monster, but a man. Just a 40 year old man who left everything for love.

What's wrong with people? A guy didn't know who the Muun was in Episode 2. How could you not know?!

Well, I suppose the word 'Muun' isn't actually used in the film, and San Hill is basically a background character, who only has one line.

I do love the Muun though, especially thanks to Darth Plagueis. Whoever the main Muun voice actor in TCW was great as well, perfect for the race. If he could play Plagueis, that would be amazing.

I like the guy who did the Plagueis audiobook. His voice as Plagueis was so intimidating.

I didn't know who San Hill was or that he was in AOTC, or what Muuns were till I started reading Darth Plagueis (almost finished, about a hundred pages to go!) :p If we could get Plagueis in any capacity (cartoon or whatnot) I'd be all for it; I'm loving learning about the sith and what their teachings are in the book; I've already marked 27 passages from it.....:-B

And regarding Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, as much of an impact he made with the mask on, it'll be very interesting going forward to see what they do with him now that Rey gave him that huge scar....I assume at this point there's no need for a mask, but they might still give him one. Of course it helps they got Adam Driver to play him, and of course that hair. [face_blush] ;) Amazing, the parallels between grandson and grandfather.
    [IMG][IMG]

I quite enjoyed him in TFA; it'll be interesting to see if they make him turn ever more to the dark side with no coming back, or if they go the route of having him questioning himself and Snoke and feeling confused, torn and pulled more to the light because he regrets what he did to his father and others.[face_dunno] In short, Episode 8 can't come soon enough. :p

I don't want Kylo with the scar. Just have Snoke heal it away. It ruins his face (not that I like him or anything like that).

Aside from the fact I think he's handsome with or without the scar, I'd mostly prefer him to keep it so it can serve as a reminder of his failure. IMO, I can see Snoke forcing him to keep the scar (whether Kylo/Ben himself wants to or not) as a permanent reminder of his failure to Rey, a girl with no previous training in the force, to motivative him to do what ever Snoke has planned. I could be wrong of course; but I can't see them getting rid of it completely, otherwise why go through the trouble of showing her putting the gash in his face and shoulder at all?

@Valency Jane I agree, I just don't really want to admit. Maybe have it semi healed.

I just don't like how all the main characters in TFA seem to have been injured or scarred save Rey and Poe:
Kylo- big cut along face and side, immobilised,
Finn- cut along back, left in coma,
Han- Sliced and fallen into Starkiller Base, Subsequently blown up,
Chewbacca- Shot in the arm, Bandaged.

    and:
R2- deep scan, "may never be the same again" (that moment made me sad)
    Luke- fear, shock,
Leia- loses han, loses new Republic Homeworlds,

Good points Darthmaul208! Hadn't thought of that before, but you're right, although Poe is tortured and Rey is intrrogated by Kylo, so they don't get out completely free.

I mean, both Anakin and Luke lost their hands; I really hope Rey isn't a Skywalker, but I think it would be really interesting regardless if she is the one who loses a limb, since they've only done that with the male characters before. Though I'd also be fine with no more loss of limbs by the main characters.

Reading that list though just reminds me of how much sadness is in SW; it's like no one can catch a break. [face_sigh]:_|

=D= Indeed, the hair is what makes it. Best part is we've got two more movies with Adam, and (hopefully, fingers crossed) more Hayden too (even if its just his voice, I'll take it). ;)

Oh SW, every time I look at either of them or watch the movies, I swear I find them more attractive, and OT Han too. [face_blush] :p

@Valency Jane It was the biggest problem of the film. It was just so annoying sad. Like there was no joy or happiness in the film for ANY of the returning cast. When there was humour it was really forced, like I was waiting for canned laughter. It came from the audience but it didn't feel natural in a way the films previously did.

Think Finn "What's that Hmm, Hmm" versus "Spring the trap".),

Yeah the New cast had some "fun" moments but I didn't want them to feel happy (like they all are incredibly happy- Poe's smiling in his X-Wing (Poe was the best new character honestly and they wasted him on a trench run., Finn just being generally happy and nice until certain scenes ("The First Order will come. I've seen what they can do. We all need to run"), and Rey who needless to say is super and can do near enough anything the plot says (yes it's in the film blah blah she can do them, but it still doesn't ever seem fun to watch.)

One thing I noticed on my CW watching, is how smug and proud Obi-Wan looks during Anakin's Knighting.

Just look at that face. Obi-Wan is loving this.

Hmmm. differing views on TFA we have, Darthmaul208. :) I enjoyed it although its not my fav SW movie; I've definitely got issues as to the way the story and characters were done.

I'm not a big fan of Poe myself, and I really hope they don't devote a huge amount of time to him; I'd like to keep things confined to Finn, Rey and Kylo/Ben as our leading characters. Regarding humor, I thought most of it was fine, though some of the stuff with the humor from Han and Finn really started to annoy me in the second half of the movie.
Exactly Eves; I was already on board with Anakin before TFA, but now that we've got Kylo/Ben too, I can't look away from either of them. [face_tee_hee] It'll only get worse as we get closer to 8 too. :p

    AprilMayJune I'd second that, though I'd say that while SW has taken my over my life, I don't think its ruined it, not by a long shot. :) Not yet at least; if I ever feel compelled to go back and read every single EU book despite none of it being canon, THEN you'll know there's no hope for me. [face_devil] 8-}
