I really wouldn't worry about what Mark said, it doesn't say anything about IX.

Man. There is no way Luke dies in VIII. I can't handle it. But, I could imagine a battle/sacrifice scenario where his future ends up being a cliffhanger...is he dead or not? So, maybe Mark is starting to play into that. "I don't really have any work or do I? You will have to wait and see." This may be the way he approaches things after VIII. It would diminish any cliffhanger should Mark already be tweeting about working on IX soon enough.

Mark will be in IX---alive or force ghost, but he will be in it. If Luke dies on screen, I think/hope it will not be until IX.

Maybe Mark decided that an ambiguous, passing tweet was the best way to inform us that it isn't Luke who is going to die but Mark, himself. "Hey fans, I won't be working much after Episode VIII because I'll be dead. I should probably have told my actual friends and family this news before posting a completely harmless, uninformative tweet about it all, but..."

I cannot believe that anyone who is a big enough Mark/Luke fan to be a part of this discussion doesn't realize that a. Mark is an all-time ****-stirrer and b. he's bound by an NDA and couldn't/wouldn't spoil a move like that. The guy is brilliant with words. Everything he says is true ... but only from a certain point of view. :) He's in IX. Relax.

Secondly, the only actor, living or dead, I would pay $150 to meet is Mark Hamill.

I payed so much more for all the travelling, but these convention prices are ridiculous. It is 145 punds for 1 picture + more pounds for each single item to be signed  ). I'm running a fanclub of a hard rock band and manage autograph stuff, but noone has to pay for it. Despite that it is a sad decision for me as such a big Luke fan, but when I'm at the celebration, I won't go to the photo/signing sessions. That's out of principle. :(

Breaking news: Leaked set photo from Episode VIII, which is definitely not fake, shows Luke tending a garden which presumably looks to consist of bonsai versions of Force trees. :p

I find it strange either way since Grant Gustin said Mark will be returning for season 3 of The Flash. That's work. Lol.

Or out of work until WB or any of the many other voices he does in animation comes calling. He was doing a portion of Killing Joke during Pre production of Episode eight. So I wouldn't count him out of work yet. Just about any show that Andrea Romano is doing voice casting for has him in some roles, even as cameos. So I wouldn't see him out of work yet, I mean he's still doing Skips on the Regular show, not to mention the new Crash Bandicoot game coming out, and he's constantly doing voice acting because he enjoys it. The man is pretty darn frequent with his VA roles, more so then live action roles.

Maybe Mark just had a moment out of being tired from all the work lately and let slip it out before noticing his mistake. So I could see it that he just told the truth and it is Mark's last movie for Star Wars and so no Luke in IX. :(

If there's any way to gauge whether there's something to a rumor, I let MSW be a guide. Here's yet another rumor that MSW seemed to ignore, at least on the website. So, perhaps, there's nothing to see here. Move along...

I think Mark's statement makes no sense. Even if his character (Luke) dies in Episode VIII, it's no excuse for him not reprising the role in Episode IX.... Because, FORCE GHOSTS......

You're very right. I remember when I found out he was the Joker on the Batman Animated Series several years after it was off tv. It was one of my favorite shows when I was younger. I'm sure he was being sarcastic that, for the moment, he didn't have anything lined up.

Says who? I believe what comes after IX will be with us way before most believe. This is Disney, they are no waiting 10 years to make another movie.

    Conversation with my wife...
Me: Is it weird for a 30 year old man to spend $150 to meet Luke Skywalker.
    Wife: Umm, I guess?
    Me: Noted.
